getting over a bad trip

Yesterday I tripped on shrooms for the first time. I was expecting to have a good time but I ended up having a bad trip. The night before I only got about 4 hours of sleep and I had gotten drunk and stoned with some friends, and i had just gotten off working that morning. I know that shrooms are good, and I dont want to never do it again just because I had one bad experience. I know I will do it again eventually and I want it to be good this time. Before I tripped I was really looking forward to it and I knew what was going to happen but it still went bad. I think I might have even fallen asleep too because i can't really remember what happened. Do any of you have an idea what might have happened, or anything that might make my trip better next time?

Bummer that it happened on your first trip, now you'll probably be nervous about it in the future.

Next time be sure you are well rested before you dose, and that you aren't still recovering from a previous party. You should also try tripping in a totally different setting next time. For instance, get some friends together and go camping, eat a good dinner and get a good nights sleep, then dose in the morning and go for a hike. Your friends should remain sober, or only does very lightly. They should be people you trust.

I expect that you were over-tired and somewhat exausted from the previous night. You don't mention if you had friends there or not, but its not uncommon for a trip to go bad when one is alone. When one realizes that a trip is going bad, its easy for someone else to talk you out of it and get you thinking about other thigns, but its much harder to do this by yourself unless you can easily change setting.

I've eaten tired before and after the wake up call around 1 hr later when you realize you are going into a trip exhausted, reality hits. I really don't feel comortable suggesting this, but next time you are tired and want to trip you could eat and then go to sleep, you get awakend with an interesting view.... But you really should take a little less next time, be well rested and go into it relaxed with no expectation..........

Going crazy will drive you mad, but once you get there the rest is easy.....

personally i've never had a bad trip by myself (done it 3 times)
but this was after 10 trips under the belt. i agree that you should have been fully rested, make sure you are in a comfortable place where you will absolutely not encounter relatives or people you don't what to know that you shroom (teachers, family friends, ect..) be with friends you can trust and with prior shrooming experience, also if you have a dog, if you can, i would recomend that you bring'em with you(its nice to have a furry, cuddly animal with you!!!

Thanks for your suggestions, I guess I was just tired. I had one friend with me but he didn't talk to me at all while we were tripping, and he left while I was peaking. I also ate about 4 grams which might have been a little too much.

getting 4 hours of sleep the night before is like *asking* to have a bad trip the next day...when i trip i make sure i have at least 8 hours of sleep the night before and a small meal of carbs a little before i ingest the acid...that sux tho that u had a bad trip good luck next time!

Yeah, I once tripped on mushrooms. It was horrible. I fell and broke my arm. What a bad trip, I knew I shouldn't have put them there! Oh well, I'm over it now.

as of yet i havent had a bad acid trip but as many know i just had the worst dxm emperience of my life the other night...im not getting over it at all right now and my desire for trippin acid again soon kinda has been destroyed. emotionally the other night was too mentally mindfucking for my brain to handle. if i got acid or shrooms this week i would trip, but just on a lower dose, like 4 or 5 hits or so. and id have to be with somebody, trippin alone sounds like too much until im more experienced, then ill try like 2 or 3 hits alone.

you want to be well rested before a trip. it was probably a combo on that and bad set and setting. Next time get some sleep and find a setting that fits better. not sure what that means exactly for you. I had a similiar experience...if you feel like reading about it look up my trip report on this site in level 3 trips called Pure Fatigue.

I think the one key element for a good trip, is to go into it in a reasonably good mood. Make sure there is nothing negative on your mind, like a recent sadness that your still thinking about, or an argument between friends for example.
Its just asking for trouble.
