Argh! Help me save my music!
    #3102154 - 09/07/04 07:58 AM (12 years, 2 months ago)

Hi there.

A few days ago I had 200+ albums saved on my hard drive.

Yesterday, I tried to log on to my profile, only to be given an error message saying that I couldn't do this because either the profile was corrupted or didn't exist.

I clicked ok, and found myself on a sort of default screen, with just 3 or so icons. For some reason, I went into my documents and moved my music from where it was onto the desktop.

Today, I logged on to my profile with no problems, only to find that my music had disappeared.

What's strange is that my hard drive says it has 15 or so GB of data on it, yet the sum total of the folders inside it is about 3GB. My music must be somewhere. A search yields nothing.

If anyone can help me out, I would be unbelievably grateful and relieved. Thanks.

What version of winblows?  Where was your music originally?

Assuming XP, click on my computer, then tools, folder options.  Click on the view tab, then ensure that 'show hidden files and folders' is selected.  Click ok.

Now, from my computer, click on the C drive, then Documents and Settings.  There will be a folder for each profile.  Most likely, what you are looking for will be in one of these folders, somewhere...  :smile:

Suess has a good idea there
you can also try:
start->search for files->enter *.mp3 as search criteria
