Installing XP and want to save emails
    #2555980 - 04/13/04 05:20 PM (19 years, 11 months ago)

I'm reinstalling XP to clean my pc...

I already put a few word files onto waiting to burn drive and i want to add all my old emails because they are important to me. I use outlook express...so how would i got about taking all the emails from 3 different user accounts and throwing them into the waiting to burn drive?

You said you're reinstalling XP? If you already have XP it should be very easy. Just run Accessories | System Tools | Files and Settings Transfer Wizard. Pick Outlook Express (and any other programs with data you want to save), then burn the file it creates to CD. Once you reinstall, run the transfer wizard again to import the data.

Alternately, you can right-click on your Inbox in OE and select Properties... it'll have a line which says 'This folder is stored in the following file'... back up that whole directory and you should be good to go.

Hope this helps,

-Y

I know nothing about outlook express, but for outlook, your emails are stored in a .PST file and your address book is stored in a .PAB file. Do a search for any files with those extensions and save them. You may need to set your folder options (tools->folder options->view->show hidden files and folders) first. Again, this is for outlook... no idea if it works with outlook express the same or not.
