Salvia nasally?

Just wondering if anyone knew if Salvia can be used nasally?

Obviously grinded up into a powdered snuff first.

Thought, seeing as tobacco is, why not salvia?

Since it works sublingually it *could* work nasally as both are mucuos membranes, but it would have to depend on how wet your nasal paassages are when you do it. And on top of that (a point that makes my previous point moot anyway) you would need quite a lot of salvia to make it work intranasal anyway, because the amount alone used sublingually is quite a lot.

I'd imagine it would be quite harsh on the nose. Plus salvia needs to be heated very hot so that the salvinorin can be seperated from the leaf, otherwise you will only get the salvinorin on the edges of them

Neuro is right the amount of raw Salvia would make it seriously undesirable. You could insufflate pure salvinorin but that would probably be undesirable for being a bit too intense.

In theory it must be possible, in practice it can hardly produce desirable results, i concur.

1...The likely very large amount needed
2...The herb is loaded with tannins. Most innovative words regarding the Divine Force, copulation and Psalms that never made it into the Bible were invented upon snorting of tannin-rich herbs  :evil:
3...Unpredictable strength, duration and trajectory of effects.

If someone wanted to experiment then I cant stop them no matter what we say so if they really feel the need they should post their finding.

I disrecommend it. Unpleasant, unpredictable and unhealthy.
Salvia: either you hit it or you quid it!

the idea of insufflating pure salvinorin has the following drawbacks:

1) you will need to finely and carefully crush it to enable any absorption since it is an oily crystal with more resemblance to plastic or wax than to something chelated like cocaine HCL (which is suitable for insufflation), and unlike cocaine it is not soluable in mucous so it will penetrate only exposed nasal mucosa - which could be prepared using Otrivine 10 minutes in advance and clearing the pasages with blowing.

2) you will need to use 10 - 40 milligrams (simmilar or greater than oral) of salvinorin, and you will be unable to predict the effect altogether since you won't know how much or how quickly any of the good dust will arrive at suitably exposed mucosa.

3) if some becomes embedded in mucous and is later released you may have a surprise delayed experience at an unwanted time, like a narcoleptic - maybe even while driving!

4) the same amount applied to a piece of cigarette paper (and later cut up) will provide between 15 and 60 measured doses with high likelihood of satisfaction wrt the intensity and manageability of effects.

Only asking as the leaf is way too harsh from a pipe, and the only bong I would have access to would be a homemade one, which generally aren't very good :P

I tried quiding, but it did not work, perhaps I didn't use enough.
