artificial lighting for salvia

I've been looking around for answers but haven't found a definite one, so what do you EXPERIENCED growers suggest for best growth for salvia?

what about hps lighting? I've read it decreases the length between nodes making more branches and leaves..

i have a 600w hps in the same room too... must be at least 8 feet away though.

I'm using t5 fluoros, their like 6500k. And then some other cheap fluoro lights with "cool white" bulbs in them(4100k). Seems to work pretty well, lots of new growth and the nodes are nice and close together.

I attempted to grow salvia under fluorescent lights once, but failed miserably. I believe that it just wasn't bright enough. Approximately how many combined watts or lumens would this take?
