Cacti Lighting/watering question

Hey guys, I have several Lophs which are about a centimeter in diameter and 1.5 years old. My lophs appear to be a light purple and not very green at all. The sides and near the soil appear pink and wrinkled/shriveled. Is this due to not enough watering and or light? I have them under artificial light and they grew from seed without any problems. I have some pereskiopsis which appears to be doing fine under these lights so I can't imagine its the lighting. I'm assuming I'm underwatering or overwatering. I water them whenever the soil gets completely dry. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thankx.

i water mine every few days under fluorescent lights, they're in well drained heated trays that i don' tthink are plugged in anymore. The soil is mostly sand with some clays rocks soil and organic matter. They do just fine. They're watered every 4 - 6 days or whenever the soil is completely dry and is for about a day and even after two at most they show signs of shrivelling.
