Grandfather Clause for Salvia Plants?
    #6877364 -

I heard a rumor that when a plant or something becomes illegal, there is typically a "grandfather" clause to exclude those already in possession of it. This doesn't seem right to me.

However it did get me thinking about my salvia plants, which I firmly believe will become illegal with the way the media is spinning it to be. Does anyone know if something like this could happen? (could we be grandfathered out of the law?)

I think you're right. The stuff is bound to get banned. Why? Because there are dangerous drugs in the world that need to be dealt with. Things like benzodiazepines, GHB, ketamine and Rohypnol. The best way to deal with date rape is to ignore it, obviously, and attack salvia divinorum as though it were a street drug without first bothering to see whether it's really dangerous. And of course, rather than simply applying laws preventing minors from using it, we have to ban it altogether. That's the only way we can be sure.

As with most prohibitionary laws, there won't be any grandfathering unless they expressly write it into the law. Which they won't. Haven't you heard man? [Mocking the Eyewitless News]Salvia D is a dangerous new drug that's more potent than LSD![/Mocking the Eyewitless News]

I don't think stealth Salvia will be too hard, though. You could probably just tuck it in with a whole bunch of different culinary sages, and then take up growing basil, oregano and other herbs nearby so that nobody will notice.

It's banned in Tennessee. I asked for some at a local head shop just last week and they told me that Tennessee has banned it and they couldn't sell it anymore... Pretty fuckin ridiculous

i doubt a plant could be grandfathered, as you wouldn't be able to tell when it was bought. What is even stranger is that my AR-15 was grandfathered when they made the assault rifle ban...had too large a clip and too short a barrel, but it was okay cause i bought it pre ban...sad but true

peace

Yeah, even when it's illegal, it will be SO EASY to grow it. I mean it's just so inconspicuous, no one will think anything of it.

I'm in need of a sterile sporeprint, if anyone wants to do a trade for some seeds or something, or maybe just for free if you have a lot of them............. i'd really appreciate it :mushroom2:

well theres too many damn kids abusing and the bad media from people who have no clue. Ghost of Gordon Wasson cries upon how seeing how this all turned out.
if head shops didnt sell em that would help fight all the negativity around it from this societies ignorance and stupidity.
Im sure when its marketed as MIND EXPLOSION or 30X salvia dimension twister, mind blaster. and stupid shit like that and was actually held sacred as it should there would be less resistance as well, the capitalistic marketing of it gave the media full reason to act the way they did. infact even as much as i hate the media i hate the marketers more. oh yeah and not to forget the marketing as a LEGAL HIGH

You know what I'm concerned about? Every once in a while you hear about the DEA busting down someone's door, shooting the family dog, breaking everything in the house, and then finding some tomato plants growing in the closet.

If Salvia becomes controlled, they'll probably start doing that to little old women who are growing mint on the patio. In fact, I'm going to start writing some letters to some senators.

prove you were growing it before hand. at least with things like renting a house, owning a gun you have registration that proves your case. do you want to go register your plants that will be illegal? not fucking likely. grandfathering biology isn't too easy for the common joe.
