Contamination?

There is a light blue something growing on one of my cakes and has covered a couple of my pins. It looks just like mycellium, but blue should I be worried? And at the base of one of my mushrooms where it is attached to the cake there is a small patch where the mycellium has started to die off and I can see the substrate again. Is this normal?

hmm. well, if it looks like mycelium, and is blue, that is often just bruised mycelium. just like shrooms blue when they are bruised and cut. have you been cutting or pulling mushrooms out around it? is the mushroom growing over it doing ok? if you are really worried, you can dab at it with a litle H2O2 on a cotton swab.

if it grows further I would worry--if it doesn't spread--chill.
