mycelium or contamination?

Here's a close up of my first casing attempt. This is a 50/50+ casing of colonized brown rice (strain is Mex #3).
Any ideas about the two white feathery patches? Mycelium or contamination? H2O2 doesn't really bother it, just wets it down for a few hours. It's been cased for 3 days at about 84F.
So, if that's just mycelial growth, I probably should put more casing mix over those spots in order to even out the colonization, right?
The pic isn't the greatest in terms of color or lighting, sorry. The casing is moist but not soaking. Those are water droplets on the walls of the bowl, so maybe the humidity is too high? The white growths are really bright white, brighter than they look.
Thanks for the help....

mycelium has a whispy stage which looks alot like that, its most likely mycelium. if you lay off the h202 it will pass this stage much quicker.

That's micellium forming rhizos. Do what you intended, cover it with some layer material. You're going good, keep it up!!!

Nice mycelium you've got there! It looks like your casing layer is a little loose. I would pat it down a bit next time. The mycelium will come through the loose spots first. You may get more even penetration if your casing layer is compacted slightly and evenly.

Thanks for the input!
The H2O2 I was spraying on the casing was only to keep the contams away....I haven't been spraying the mycelium directly for the last couple of days. I ran out of casing before I could cover the entire bowl well (and our microwave just gave up the ghost, would't you know), so I'll sterilize some more and finish the job. This was an attempt to case some jars that looked a little odd, anyway, so anything out of it will be a bonus.
Another question: when making the 50/50 mix, the pH before adding the hydrated lime was around 11! Does this sound right, or is it way too high? Adding the lime didn't materially affect the pH.....
Thanks again!!
