Cultivation of Edtables???

Can you use the Pf tek to grow etables? I understand some like the shitaki love wood so i can see thats a place where pf wouldent work but what about with garden variet, osyter, ect. ect? any help would be wonderful, AFOAF loves to grow cubies i wanna try in a legal way.

First, Fugu is from Turkey, so he may not understand you fully...

It has been done (growing from cakes), but usually the recipe is altered to add sawdust or whatever else the species requires. If you don't provide the appropriate substrate, it is likely fruitngs will be very poor, if they fruit at all. I suggest you read up on the species you want to cultivate, and adjust the recipe to fit the mushrooms needs.

You are in virgin territory here (sort of), so experimentation is necessary. I would imagine oyster mushrooms would be very easy to grow like this as they are highly adaptable to different substrates (would still need to add wood IMO for decent results). I have seen Reishi grown like this, but that is all...

I encourage you to experiment... But, I will ignore the fact that you mention needing "cover". Don't tell me you are growing illegal mushrooms in your parents house. This is a quick way to get flamed....

Not my parents house, actually its my apartment but my parents are nosy people. and im not cultivating illeagle mushrooms, just leagal eatable mushrooms thru the PF tek style with like you said an adjustment in the recipie.

It's called a door lock... You can buy one from walmart for about 15-20$. It's quite easy to replace the doorlock on the bedroom(s) in your apartment.

If your parents ask about it just say, "Ask me no questions and I'll tell you no lies!"

You could also join the few that grow in their closets. If you were concerned about security, I suppose you could change the door lock or put in a deadbolt.

I'd really like to see if this will work. Post some pictures too, I would but I don't have a camera yet.
