HELP Problems with straw

Ok i cased a 20 qt rubbermade with 5 1qt brf cakes fully colinized. 2 weeks later im checking it out and some of the alfalfa straw has turned to a gooy substance. using the laundry bag and boiling water tek I pasturized the straw for about a hour and the temp never rose past 190 sat about 170 most of the time. i drained it out to what i thought was feild capasity (hasnt dripped for a couple hours) Any thoughts???

Next time you should try actual straw, the water content is lower than alfalfa and will hold the moisture better.
