hmmm... this kid i know thinks he might have his first 3 babies ready to pick, but isn't quite sure. the edges of the caps have just seperated from the stem and i guess is starting to open up a tiny bit. is that the "veil" breaking or is there another part that's the veil that you wait to break? the only reason he's really questioning this is that they're still quite small. small as in barely 3 inches? these are the first ones off a PF strain PF cake though... is this normal? should he pick em?

yes pick them, pf classic strain is a small to medium shroom this is perfectly normal...and yes that is the veil

The PF veils are unlike any other strain...they seem to be tucked under the cap and aren't evident until the cap starts to open up...so when you see the cap begin to unfold, pick em...

Funky, from my experience the first flush of PF's are usually small with a lot of abhorts. My second flush was much better with a couple 5 inch ones and a bunch of 3 inchers. This is with casings though, i have no experience with cakes.

They are at their prime potency when the veil breaks, but if you want to grow any to show em off to people I let them go another day.
