Suicide: is really weird... its 70's punk rock but instead of a band, theres a guy on an old analog synthesizer, and the vocalist sings like a lounge singer

if you dig mouse on mars, try the album glam, prolly their most experimental shit out there

Primus is really strange music, but it's also really good.

I also LOVE Mahavishnu Orchestra. Hard rock & jazz combined. Does not get much better than that.

skinny puppy - the albums too dark park and last rights, specifically.
mr bungle isn't really that weird, unless you listen to the disco volante album.
speaking of patton, adult themes for voice and prazno altransit (spelling) are both fucking crazy.
bonefish sam and his power orchestra is some odd stuff, free too. just google for it.

I forgot to mention Mindless Self Indulgence. Their stuff can get pretty wacky. Not trip friendly, but definately weird.

some out there bands that i have heard of are mystic groove, and there is two others but i forget their names
one of them has an album called didgin in dirt that comes from aussie was a pretty big hit locally they had pan flutes bongos drums guitars didgeradoos some other instruments that were pretty out of it
and the other was this maori lady that has a mowhawke, face tattoo, full of peircings sings really soft plays the violin i'll try and get the names soon but all in all pretty out of it music but fun to listen to when you wanna chill out
