is using puppets ever okay?

I know puppets are frowned upon and I've heard of them being banned before.

Supposing someone has shared some personal information in the past and is worried about making posts concerning illegal activities.

Would it be acceptable for him to use a puppet for said posts?

I know puppets are allowed for cultivation purposes, and only cultivation purposes. To keep identity a secret.

However your question is a grey area (unless that's exactly what you are talking about.. cultivation.. ) so an admin will have to field that one. But I will take a stab and say if the puppet is specifically for security reasons and you are not using it to flame people or troll or give bad rates or anything like that, then I think they wouldn't have a problem with it.

Shroomism is correct.  Cultivation puppets are the only 'official' puppets allowed, however in extreme circumstances where security is of the upmost concern, a user may PM an administrator requesting permission to use a puppet account.  This user must provide the reasoning behind the request, as well as an estimated time period of useage.  Failure to notify an administrator may result in both of the user's accounts being banned, in which case they may contact us through email to resolve the situation.. but that just takes longer so do us all a favor and just let us know if you need a puppet before you go ahead and make one.  :sun:
