We are looking for a prisoner under 30 years old -- doing time for a drug law violation -- in a prison close to NY city.

I've recieved messages in the past from Serena Altschul(however her name is spelled) who does news specials for MTV. The content of the message was similar to the one you posted above. I forget the name of the special but I think it was called "The Bud Business". I saw it and it was pretty interesting. However, I don't think they should be soliciting people for research and the like when they aren't paying anybody, or giving them any credit or say in the content/editing process of the product. MTV is so lame, don't anybody support them.

In my book, anything that draws attention to the injustices of the drug war is a good thing...

Yeah, if this is a "news" story, then nobody should be paying anybody anything. The news should be relatively pure and untainted (as a lofty goal, anyway). Now, if they were looking for people to solicit funds for a legal defense or something, then that would be different...
I am assuming that the idea here, is to focus attention on the injustices of the so-called "war on drugs," and therefor, this would be a good thing to support.
Whether you personally like MTV or not, their news department does provide a forum for the expression of the political ideas and concerns of a younger demographic, which is both good and necessary...

Yeah, he's definately in jail. Not sure how many details we can reveal.
Only thing I'll say, it was drug related.
I'll let the admins decide what else can be said.
