hi thor, i voted against taking down the od for the reasons i stated, but if this is what it takes in these harsh reactionary times to protect the shroomery and all that it means, so be it. i assume the new mandatoriy login procedure has a similar aim?

Why was it shut down??? It helped people make decisions that can greatly affect their life. Like how much of a certain drug to use and reasons for and for not using certain drugs. People could ask questions before doing something stupid.

No one is saying that the OD is gone for good, yet. The idea is to temporarily suspend its activity, while we debate the subject at higher levels. This was a united Admin decision. The OD may come back as it was; it may come back as something different; or it may not come back at all. These options are being discussed as we speak. Please, do not raise a stink about it. There is a thread in OTD which discusses this. Please contribute your opinions to it, but please keep your contributions well-stated and respectful.

Please remain calm, and pay no attention to the man behind the curtain... :wink:

I think if OD is removed for good then General Questions will probably end up turning into an Other Drugs, and Mods would have their work cut out trying to delete and close threads over and over again all day every day. Nobody would probably listen and just removing OD officially creates it unofficially in some other forum, most likely General Questions. I mean hell it already kinda is.

imho, if u want to use 'certain' drugs, you need to know the doses by either a doctor or yourself studying medicine. the internet is a free information provider where AT LEAST half of the information is false.

Just wanted to mention this is not 100% the case. I recognize the gravity of the situation and understand that it's important to do what is in the page's best interest. However, I feel that closing OD is at best unneccessary and at worst more harmful than the alternative.

However, I highly respect the views and opinions of my fellow admins, and when they all disagree with me I'm willing to trust their good judgement.

Also, I want to clarify, so no one misunderstands, what I mean is that many of us Admins were behind the idea of temporarily suspending the OD Forum, why we discuss whether to allow it to return unchanged, have it returned with modifications, or not have it returned at all. It is a current discussion at the Admin level, and we do appreciate the well thought-out, and polite, feedback of our membership in threads like this. :laugh:

Theres alot of morons on the net.
The min some BS sliped thru there and the 14 year old kid next door tries it and dies the shit will go down.
If u open it back up u should put more mods there IMHO
But thats just my 2 pennys

Don't just let them lock threads. Instead of just locking it put in a good reson this is a stupid idea, but in a nice way people tend to open there minds more when you act as there friend instead of lacing your comments with venom.
Not that anyone does that but helpful info will sink in faster and with more meaning.
More mods is the #1 thing in that forum though.

if that's how it's gonna be, make it so. ok.

however, imo, why have a section called "The Entheogenic Experience" if there is no specific forum to discuss entheogens in general...this is what "other drugs" was about.

but i'm not an admin, tragedy.

I support the closing of the other drugs forum. this is the shroomery. there are alot of other places to learn about crack, heroin, speed, and K if you like. As I remember, the subtitle of the "other drugs" forum said that it was a place for discussing "non-mushroom entheogens". i could see having a forum that addresses cannabis, salvia, mescaline-bearing cacti, DMT, and even LSD, and i think that maybe that was the original intent of the OD forum.

It really doesn't matter that the public poll voted 58:42 to keep it, as this is not a referendum in a publically-owned company.
The shroomery mods / owners / whatever have to do what they can to keep this place alive, and in the light of the current heat surrounding a recent overdose, posted anthrax, and worldwide ultraconservatism, this small shift is beneficial to us all.

Better to have a 'lesser' site that works than a 'full' one that's closed down. Get over it, people. It's not like you can't have two browsers open at once, and it's not as it this is the internet's only freakzone. Go check out the thread at the top of the cultivation forum, for some well-argued views from both sides of the argument.

Mmmmmmm mmm, my tongue is brown. :laugh:
