Culture Bank Imaging Project * 1
    #29694795 -

Over the years I've amassed quite a few different gourmet cultures. I try to reculture my slants once per year in the fall at the start of my growing season. Last year things got to the point of needing better organization so I set about compiling a culture list and developing internal ID codes. This year I am trying to photograph all of the cultures because I think this might be useful and is kind of fun. I'm a little over half way done and wanted to share my results so far. I can't figure out an easy way to reverse the sort order so they are backwards.

Wow, nice collection. I made some slants in 2022 of Pink oyster and Lion's mane, and just now trying to grow them out. Unfortunately. I think they're mostly spoiled, but one agar plate does show mycelium growth.
Anyway, I've been making agar plates recently so I can try to store my small stash of gourmets long-term using the Castellani method. Has anyone tried that?

Thanks! Haven't tried Castellani. Seems to work for some people but I think slants are the more proven and reliable method. They work great for me!

Even though my slants had a slight odor, the plates are all showing signs of growth. How long do you store yours?
I bought a bag of 50 centrifuge tubes on amazon to try this, so I might as well make some slants too.
