So I have only one survivor from my try of reviving some tried out, icky old plates with coir+brf cakes. And that bugger for some reason has stalled at the bottom. I'm starting to find excuses to just birth it by saying to myself that maybe I just didn't mix everything correctly and maybe it's mostly coir there..




Rest of the cake seems okayish, if a bit thick, but I mean cakes have usually been like that.

Really have to improve my rooster with something proper.

Edit.. No that I zoomed in to the picture I can obviously see that it's not just coir there :laugh:

Just looks a lil wet and starchy, I used LI for my cakes and was maybe a bit heavy handed and a couple had spots like this on the bottom. After a few days of the myc reaching the spots it finally ate through the wet stuff and looks normal now!

How long has it been? If it doesn't want to colonize any further โ€” I personally would pull it out. I'd scrape off that part under the tap with a clean spoon. Then I'd give it a generous roll in coir, filling in the gap, and send it to fruiting.

If there isn't any angry uninvited guest in there โ€” there shouldn't be any problem.

Or else โ€” you can always fruit it straight from the jar.

Quite bit I think. Havenโ€™t taken notes, but about a week maybe after everything else was colonized. Could easily be a bit wet and soggy at the bottom. Now that I think about it, I might have easily gone abit overboard with water when I brought the coir back to field capacity, that I had standing in a bucket for ages :laugh:

Iโ€™l see what it shows me tommorow and decide then.

Mushrooms will do what mushrooms wanna do? Iโ€™ve got about 20 trays 15 to 20 pot jars 10 to 15 quart jars and a whole bunch of brown rice pot jars and some of my brown rice jars are still going. Itโ€™s weird but itโ€™s bright white beautiful my psyllium and then I had a little grain left in a jar wasnโ€™t enough to do another tray and too much to add to the trays so I just poured the rest of my worm choir and it shook it up gave it a cap. I just looked at it today and wow good luck fellas good mushroom vibes to you all.

So this is a special cake, and for that reason is also my final entry, as it is the very first cake Iโ€™ve ever grown. It felt fitting to enter them, kind of like a little ode to the whole process.

These come from a spore print that flapping_bird kindly sent me at the start of the year to start my growing journey - simply โ€˜Golden Teachersโ€™.

Temps have been in the low 60's(f) and the cakes have def slowed a bit, but all three shakti are done, one acadian is done and the other two are probably a few days out, and one melmac is very close and the other still has a bit to go. One of the shakti jars has a crazy mutant invitro pin :rockon:
