Rice Wash Agar * 1

Rice Wash Agar seems to work. Posting this here so it shows up quickly in search results, since I didn't find anything when I was looking it up.

Take your brown rice for spawn, rinse it with an equal amount of water, and save the water. Do so two more times, then PC your brown rice for spawn. Boil the rice water to a rolling boil for 3 minutes and decant (and save!) the liquid, discard the sediment. Mix with 20g/L agar powder and PC to sterilize.

Shown below is a 24h before/after of a rice-grain sized sliver of agar received in the mail.

I have heard this works, Ive seen a few dudes on youtube use it

It seems like a pretty easy way to source nutes for your agar plates :thumbup:

There is a lot of starch in loose rice which s why some folks rinse it before cooking.

I'm using a ratio of 60g of brown rice to 350ml of water and ~7 minutes of cooking time as the base for my agar.

It works well for what I need.
