Quote: But i thought to myself the truth above all, that this is only temporary and will stop in a few hours and took my headset, glass of water and laid on my couch, said fuck it and i let the shrooms take over.
That's a good approach to tripping
Quote: I would like to know what i can expect on higher dose
I remember one trip in particular that was like an introduction to higher doses. My previous trip had been fun but fairly light; this one was more like a medium-strength trip, where the effects are more noticeable but it isn't so strong that you get swept away before you know what's happening.
Reading the thoughts I wrote down at the time, there were some interesting visuals but a big part of the trip was being "lost in weird thoughts" like Pandemoon says. This can be fun but also disorienting. These lines from my trip journal show the feeling of reality starting to come apart a little bit, but at this dose it felt fun and interesting rather than threatening:
Quote: Starting to feel thoughts loosen
It’s a weird feeling that the space in the room is expanding. There is a small storage space in the wall at the end of my bed, but it feels as though it’s an entrance to some kind of underground realm.
Drifting hallucinogenic dreamlike trance. I thought I felt sleepy, but it’s more like going into a waking trance, a third state. An alternate reality.
words in the carpet... the slow slide into unreality
Down here we just keep on digging. There’s nothing down here, we’re digging a new reality. A reality mine.
From an old trip report - "I am a Canine Adviser of a Sonic Noiseboard"
All this weirdness can feel confusing and intense (depending on the dose). It's fun but takes a bit of getting used to - if you can embrace the weirdness and nonsense, and not take things too seriously, you will enjoy it more.
A higher dose can sometimes make you feel a bit uneasy, like you mention here:
Quote: i could start to feel a small panic in my body, as i didn't expect it to hit this hard this fast.
When this happens, or you get the feeling "this is too much... it's too intense" just remember this is a normal reaction - the intensity has a peak and then things calm down a bit and you start to enjoy the feeling of the trip being more powerful.
I find that stronger trips can have a bit more dysphoria at the start (where you feel weird, the trip feels wrong and psychologically uncomfortable) but I always find this leads to a very euphoric trip. Sometimes you just have to "ride it out" for a while, like you're on a rollercoaster - you know you can't get off so you might as well try to enjoy it. Trips can be terrifying at one point and then turn into an amazing experience, which is a good thing to remember when a trip feels "bad."
I've also found that the more difficult trips were also often the ones that felt more mystical - sometimes a trip can feel really hostile and intimidating but if you can let yourself sink into it, that can change into the complete opposite with feelings of bliss, spiritual experiences and so on. Trips can be surprising and often not what you expect, so don't underestimate how powerful they can be - in some of my trips I remember thinking "I didn't even know it was possible to experience this."
One thing with the lemon tek or making tea is that it can increase the initial intensity of the trip, so it makes sense to slowly increase the dose from one trip to another. It's when you make sudden jumps in dosage that you can get caught out - 2g will feel a lot different to 4g for example (in a "holy fuck this is strong" kind of way), so a bit of caution with the dose is sensible.
With a bit of experimentation you can find the level of dose that suits you, or gradually explore higher doses until you reach the limit of how far you want to go. High doses, mystical experiences and so on have their place, but push too far and it's like hitting a wall of dissociation and temporary psychosis. There are diminishing returns to that kind of psychonautical exploration, and I found it was nice to calm things down a bit and go back to a regular dose level that I can actually enjoy.
If you do get the kind of trip where you suddenly think "oh no I took too much" just go with it as best you can, lie down, let it take over - it might feel a bit fierce and intimidating as it gets stronger, but the euphoria after the peak can also be very strong. You don't want to dose so high that you have no idea what you are doing, but getting a little bit freaked out from time to time, a little bit of craziness, is all part of the experience...
Trips are a very personal experience - some things about tripping are very common, but other aspects of the trip are very individual. It's good to have some idea of what to expect, but also important to trip in your own way without being too influenced by other people's ideas. Have fun exploring the psychedelic headspace!
