I have used ground up Oats for blocks in a pinch running out of Rice Bran. Worked just fine, same with wheat bran, I get whatever's cheapest in my area at that moment in time.

Ohhh man. Some big hitters this time around, it’s going to be a good one.
I’m also all setup and inoculated. Bringing all that was learned from CWII, looks like it’s going to be needed.
Basic cakes, home ground BRF, everything measured and going to be paying close attention to things that have worked in the past.
Keeping it in the jar as long as possible before birthing, dunk and coir roll, upside down lid filled with verm for a base and stellar surface conditions.

Fine if the cakes have to be in glass, but do similarly sized plastic containers count as a "jar"? I know I've asked about the rules each time, but I (re)use a mix of glass and plastic containers for cakes.

yup that’s all fine, pickle_jars…its a cake in a cup, round thing, container.

HOWEVER, I absolutely draw the line at anything bigger than a 1000mL container though - we’re “growing small to have a ball” here!

Oh for sure, it's a normal ~8 oz PF-tek-sized cake, just in a container with headroom so it's self-contained. A quart is a bit under 1000mL, so, good to go.
