Anyone got some advice for how to germ a dirty stubborn year old caeruleorhiza sporeprint? Just did my 3rd attempt with some charcoal agar plates and WLBRF pucks last night, so im sitting here with my fingers crossed hoping ill get some mycelium instead of mold this time.
Or do i just have to keep trying the same way ive been going and be more patient?

Hi Jake,
Welcome back! It's been a while.
Not too bad. Looking forward to autumn.

And you?

I've been good. I abandoned my outdoor beds because our Fall season has been fucked up for years. I know there's myc left, and this year we've had an unusually wet summer with no drought, so maybe they'll do something this Fall if we actually get one. Currently working on an automated dual tub system for Pans, but have been having issues with it. Thankfully I found Pheno's (Supa) "Dreamer Tub" thread, so hopefully it'll help me get mine dialed in better.

I think stipes n caps or pastywhite got a tek with tween 20 or some shit like that to germinate old stubborn spores that failed germination in every other way πŸ™

Yeah man, Pheno's thread is awesome. I built a 1-8 tubs system for Pans and other exotics last year, using a lot of the hardware and tips he mentioned. In the end I gave up on trying to create a cycle with the use of Rh sensors though and switched to cycle timers instead. Haven't  used mine yet this year but I will very soon. Have some Pan mycelium ready to spawn.

Fingers crossed then for your outdoor patches. Who knows what might still happen.

Modified cycle timers, or unmodified?

Thanks, however it seems i require a flowhood for this method. I had to downsize so i sold my ffu and now im back in the sab. Idt having an active stirplate in the sab to scrape the spores into would work so well

I'm not sure what you mean. Mine are programmable ones. The continuous cycle is one of its functions.

Idk if this brand also has a US version though.

There is nothing in this hobby that requires a ffu over an sab, including the Tek mentioned. And ffu is just easier to work with.

You can modify the standard mechanical timers so that they go from a 24 hour cycle to like 40 minute cycle, with each 30 minute segment going to around 50 seconds. I used one on my automated martha back in the day.

I'm sure there are better digital ones than I have, but my digital one only has 20 programmable ON/OFF cycles per day.

I've seen the term "ffu" a few times since I've been back. I assume an ffu is a flowhood, but what does the abbreviation stand for? Only thing I think it could be is "filtered fan unit". Didn't we used to use "LFH" to abbreviate "laminar flow hood", or am I just remembering things wrong?

Just reinstalled my 'machine' and connected the 2 IWL tubs I have been growing. The remaining slots are reserved for Pan Cyan tubs.

I have no idea what it stands for πŸ˜‚ I remember seeing someone bitch once because someone was calling it a flowhood and not an ffu but I really have no idea why. In just gonna start calling it "the filtering machine." Lol

FFU stands for fan filter unit, and the laminar flow hood owners don't want anyone calling a FFU a laminar flow hood because most FFU's dosent make true laminar flow, it's an insult really

Exactly, it does work flawless and doesn't take up as much space as a laminar flow hood though
