i knew it!

krims are my shit. i fucking love them. i randomly grew them last season and was blown away by the flavor. i dedicated this season to many krims. i have maybe 10 total plants going. with countless cuttings and clones. another week and they will turn dark purple yet will retain the greenish tops. so fucking good. they make amazing fried green tomatoes when they are early in the season.


i had fruits from husky plants well into november. apparently they can tolerate cold and the first frost rather well

The base of the stem is something insane, never seen it so robust. Its absolutely loaded with elderberries. I’ll shoot a pic when ripe.

Normal eldeberries have some tufts here and there,
Haschberg is adorned with big tufts of berries like its my late mom’s christmas tree, even the north side
I’m glad I have enough freezer space.

The birds can have the ones I can’t reach, the neighborhood cats, my lil garden is like a cattery, will keep em high up.

With that thick a trunk, the root system must be extensive.

I utterly recommend the Haschberg variety, defies my expectations, stoner-friendly name . If I don’t prune after harvest (plenty of easy growing cuttings!) next year i’ll have a jungle!

Whats it with me and planting trees in a tiny garden

A fully grown Haschberg, unpruned, can get 4m (=16ft) wide and high.
Berry harvest can be 50-100lbs if left to grow out fully.
Its gonna be a bird orgy when they ripen.

Berries and berry size are epic, loaded with anthocyanins and other medicinal goodies prized by athletes, the infirm, elderly and those with a cold, the flu or moderate covid.
