they are fucking disgusting, i used to like them so i ate em all the time for like 2 years, then i really tasted them, and was like what the fuck. I think i really started hating them around the time they strated putting onions in the beef flavored ones. well, i dont plan on ever eating a ramen noodle again until after im dead. they make me sick, especially that little bag of powder.

Ramen Mc Donalds:
1 ramen noodle.
1 egg.
2 table spoons of cheese.

Take your frying pan and set it on a medium. Take your ramen noodle out of the package, find the seem and break it in half (it's folded over itself, the weak spot if on on of the sides) Scramble one egg in a glass. Put one half of the raman noodle on a plate and pour the scrambled egg into the square of uncooked noodles. Then flip this into the pan.
At this time time take your cheese and spread it evenly along the surface of the second half the ramen. Nuke this for 30 seconds. Take the melty cheese half out of the microwave, take the cooked egg half out of the frying pan, put them both on a clean plate and stick them both together; cheese side down... and stick it on the top of the egg half. Eat like it was a breakfast sandwhich. (Well, it is)

This is an original recipe, I'm ashamed to say.

Jailhouse football food:

Take 5 or 6 noodles and smash them all up still in the bags. Then cook them in a large pot but don't add the flavor packs yet. Strain out all the water. Then add about a half cup of mayonaise, a can or two of drained tunafish, chopped onion, and the flavor packs. Stir well and eat on saltine crackers. Some variations are adding cheese, old bay seasoning, hot sauce, chopped chicken in a can instead of tuna etc. etc.

This was a "recipe" I used today. It was Fing phenominal.

Ingredients:

Mauchen Creamy Chicken ramen

Parsley flakes (dried)

Water (to cook the ramen in only.)

milk (to replace the water after cooking)

Provalone Cheese (3 deli slices)

"Poppino" baby portabellas (green giant commercial kind.)

Preperation:

I microwaved the ramen with enough water to cover the ramen. I nuked it on high for about 3 minutes (give or take) until the noodles were hydrated and ready to go. I strained off the water and put the cheese in with the noodles with what water hung on to the noodles. I then nuked it again for about 10 seconds and stirred it over and over. Then I added about a half of a cup of 1% milk (which is about 2% just not quite due to regulation) and a dash of canned milk. {you could get away with 2% if you want to}. I nuked it again till the milk was hot enough to fully incorporate the cheese. Then I threw in some parsley flakes and I pre-chopped some of the baby ports and tossed them in and "folded" them in and let it set for just a few seconds to warm up the mushies. They started to take on a darker color and loosen up their water content to really bring the flavor out.

Then I garnished with a little more parsley and it was GRRRRRRRR8! (R.I.P. Thurl Ravenscroft).

It has that night light flavor going throughout it. Almost hints towards Italian alfredos. Very delicious.

Provalone has a great flavor that mixes well with shrooms. It also melts fairly well. You could go with other cheeses that you have laying around, just remember that some aren't that good in the melting department. Some cheeses are stringy by nature so watch out and enjoy.

Psssha, bump all the ol' threads you want (so long as you have something relevant to contribute!).
I'd rather see people searching for old topics and adding to them, than making new threads and thereby reducing the efficient organization of information!

So far as ramen and me is concerned, I'll be stickin' to the tried and true Nong Shim Shin Ramyun (my favorite as is ramen). :yesnod:

But by far, the best ramen I've ever experienced, definitely comes from Daikokuya at:

2 cup-o-noodles
1 small bag of flaming Cheeto's
jalapeno squeeze cheeze

directions

slightly open bag of cheetos so you can smash them into a powder, now mix in your noodles (ramen would work) and get your faucet really hot and fill the bag up... let it sit for a couple minutes and add cheese... i used to do this in prison, we called them tamales (i have no idea why) but they are really good...

Ha ha ha. That is awesome. At first I was like. WTF. Then I thought about it and was like. Damn that might be good. You get a nice blend of cheezy with spicy. Did it matter what kind of cup-a-noodles you used? Prison ehh. No questions asked but I am glad you are outside now at least.

Shitake

Daikakuya is pretty damn bomb when it comes to the ramen experience. It's a unique place to eat, because it specializes in gourmet versions of ramen.

I was growing shitakes back in sept. I went on vacation and when we got back we had a house fire and the gods took them back. So now I am growing oysters in hopes to get some fungal delight. Then I think I will get some more shitakes.

i want to grow some oysters and shiitake mushrooms. That would be awsome. What did you grow them on? and does the flavor change depending on what it grows on?

This is the only way ill eat roman noodles, 2 cups in pan on stove on high, bring to boil, add noodles and cook uncovered for 3 min, then strain the noodles, put 1-2 tablespoons butter in the pan and melt and add the flavor packet to this, stir well, add the noodles back to the pan (with heat on medium) and stir well, then add 1 can of nelly chili and a tablespoon of red pepper flakes (i like a lot of red pepper flakes) then eat and enjoy. Can add cheese if you would like.

As LiquidSmoke noted, the Shin Ramyun comes with dried Shittake chunks (and of course the serving suggestion as depicted on the package cover to add more whole mushrooms where desired). The Daikokuya ramen does not actually include mushrooms.

Got Me A Part Time Lover: Daikokuya

Posted by: Daily Gluttony - Don't eat to live. Live to eat.

Last night, I went to rekindle an old flame. I've been acting kind of stand-
offish with my longtime favorite ramen restaurant, Daikokuya, lately. It's
been too busy for me. It hasn't made time to fit me into its hectic schedule.
So that's why I have been having a bit of a ramen affair: last week, I
sought out some new love at Kyushu Ramen, and boy did it rock my ramen
world. But then I asked myself, "Is it me?" Is it my own impatience that
causes me to turn the other way and deny myself some of Daikokuya's
ramen pleasures? What if I'm not being understanding enough? Well as you
know, all good lovers keep you coming back for more, so last night I went
running back to Daikokuya, but this time on my terms.

That's right, no more of that 8pm on a Friday night or 1pm on a Saturday
stuff. I'm sick of dealing with the cattiness of other diners fawning over a
table. Yup, from now on I'm going at 6pm on a regular weekday when
people are just getting off of work and not thinking about dinner yet. That
way, I get it all to myself. (Well, practically)

Hey whatdya know, it worked. We were reunited at about 6:15 last night
when I walked through the door and was immediately embraced by
available seats. Its limited seating, 6 booths and about 20 or so seats at
the counter, is almost always filled up, and its waiting list is always about 5
groups of people deep. Not tonight. I got a booth right away. Hmm, what a
nice change.

Greeting me with open arms: empty seats!

A little obligatory small talk at the beginning, a few glances at the menu to
see if I'd want anything else (a donburi rice bowl, some gyoza, maybe?),
but I was only there for one thing. All this time I'd been yearning inside for
a bowl of Daikoku Ramen and for good reason. Hot, steamy, its tonkotsu
broth, made by boiling pork bones for almost a full day, is seductive. Its
deep, rich flavor and velvety texture pull you in and don't let you go until
you slurp up every last bit of chewy ramen noodle, crisp bamboo shoot and
bean sprout, and briny soy-sauce boiled egg. And you know I like a little
meat on my men, so of course there's the pork--three hunks of melt-in-
your-mouth kurobuta pork sporting a thin layer of luscious fat floating on
top of my liquid love. When I was finally done with the big black ceramic
bowl, it was utter ramen euphoria. Total satisfaction.

Ramen Euphoria

Oh, and whenever I'm down for a little more action, Daikokuya will do it
harder. All you have to do is ask--they'll make your broth extra rich by
adding an additional ladle of pork fat to your bowl.

This is going to work out, this going to Daikokuya on my terms. I have lots
of faith in this relationship. But I don't think I'm gonna call it quits with my
boyfriend in the Valley, Kyushu Ramen either. That one shows me a really
good time too. Yeah, that's it. I'll just be a ramen player--got me one in the
Valley and one Downtown.

As a woman (actually as a diner in this case), you gotta know what you
want and know how to get it. No waiting games, no playing second. Yup,
call your own shots and set your limits. Trust me, in the end, it'll all be
worth it.
