Since last year I had an idea to put out many different genetics and see if I can find a phytoplasma resistant one by purposefully not treating them with anything.

So far I have 3 plants with phytoplasma. One was bad so I pulled the whole plant. The other one wasn't as bad so I just cut the shit off, and finally my biggest plant has it. Im gonna cut off where I see it there too and see if it can fight it....hope I can find at least one good strain that doesn't get infected

I'm no expert on plant virus/diseases, but I don't think any particular strain/genetics of cannabis are going to be totally immune or resistant to something like phytoplasma, phytoplasma infects other species of plants as well not just cannabis. Some genetics/individual cannabis plants might attract leaf hoppers a bit more than others (the main vector for phytoplasma), but I'd think any cannabis plant/strain can become infected with phytoplasma if an infected leaf hopper is sucking its juices.

If you put out 10 plants and 6 got phytoplasma, the 4 plants that didn't catch the virus I wouldn't consider to be immune or resistant...I'd just think those plants got "lucky" and didn't have a leaf hopper that was infected with phytoplasma sucking their juices.

I def notice certain strains I've grown attract & have more leaf hoppers on them than others, same with caterpillars and other common pests some strains are more attractive to them...but I've never had a strain that leaf hoppers etc avoided entirely.

If leafhoppers and the phytoplasma virus are so prevalent in your area I'd suggest using gardening mesh/netting of sorts around your outdoor plants to keep leafhoppers and other pests off the plants...After I had one plant with the virus a couple summers ago I was considering getting some, I never did though lol.




Speaking of such...I've noticed way more leaf hoppers on my plants this time around than the last couple summers, a few different species, they appeared a bit earlier in the season too. So far none of my plants are displaying any symptoms of phytoplasma though (not every single leaf hopper is infected with the virus).




So far this summer has had way more sunny days, warmer temps, and lower humidity than the last few summers I've grown here...Last year I remember most of June and a portion of July being foggy/overcast/drizzly and day temps in the low to mid 60s with humidity around 80% to 100%. This time around for the last month+ it's been mostly sunny, temps around 70 to 78 and humidity around 55% to 70% during the day time.

With the warmer temps, way more sunshine, and drier air, as well as starting several weeks ahead of last year, needless to say the plants I have growing right now are the biggest & best looking plants I've grown where I've lived/grown the last few years.

I've been giving them almost nothing but water...Since May I've only done two very light feedings, none of my plants are showing any deficiencies or excess, just lush glowing happy plants. The only thing I've done differently this time around with my soil is I amended and top dressed with some supa dank compost that I never used before, I feel like that's playing a big part in how happy & healthy my plants are .

The "Banana Bread" strain I'm growing rn is one of the most, if not the most, vigorous strains I've grown...the thing is a beast with how quick and large it grows.

Pretty certain all 3 of my "Cherry White Runtz X Runtz" plants are males...I already chopped down two of them, the last one I still can't ID 100% so letting it go a bit longer and might hold onto it for making some seeds.

I'll post some pics eventually lol, one of these days lol.

It’s a bit late for this year and I don’t know where you’re located but if you have them around, praying-mantis are wonderful. You can go around and collect their ootheca in the late winter/early spring; they start hunting as soon as they hatch!













Got my posts in over the weekend, still need to get netting up on a few. They are looking like they are getting ready to start stretching.

It is, it’s called partial seed coat removal or manual dehulling. It’s not used as often as scarification because it’s more time-consuming and has a higher risk of injuring the embryo/fungal infection, et. Typically scarification is sufficient and has less risk, but both techniques can be used when germinating dormant seeds with tough shells.
