do you use monikers like sweetie pie for the lulz or is that the way you usually talk to women you don't know?

just curious.  if you choose to reply, a plain answer will satisfy my curiosity and be the end of this.

'Absolute Ghoul' Joe Lieberman Emerges From Political Irrelevance to Urge Third Party Bid Against Ocasio-Cortez

Quote:
...former Democratic Sen. Joe Lieberman (Conn.) emerged from the realm of complete political irrelevance on Tuesday to urge defeated New York Rep. Joe Crowley to disregard the will of voters and mount a third-party bid against democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

I am in a minority on the shroomery, as I frequently defend the opposing side when they have a point about something or when my side make believes something about them.  I also attack my side if I think they're wrong.  People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.

Crazy looking through this thread after almost a decade.

The DSA used to be a fringe org with roughly 40,000 members and a couple members holding elected office.

Today, the DSA is *more popular* among Democratic voters than elected Democrats are. They’re experiencing surging popularity, and outright hysterics from the leadership of both parties, to say nothing of the media. Now boasting over 100,000, there are DSA members taking out incumbent Democrats all over the country, but especially in deep blue districts.

The cardinal sin of socialism has always been being right too early, but it seems the public has largely caught up. Calls to abolish ICE, end the wars, enact universal healthcare, and democratize the economy are no longer fringe positions among the democratic electorate.

To the Marxists here: how do you view the rise of the DSA, or entryism in general?

To the liberals: what’s your take? Are the socialists gifting electoral victories to the GOP by saying crazy things like ‘Israel is committing a genocide?’ Is it good that the Mamdanis of the world are energizing a dejected voter base?

To the rightoids: Are you on Trump’s side that these people are essentially communists who want to destroy America? What do you make of establishment conservatives urging the Democrats to snuff these people out? Shouldn’t the right be happy that the communists are making the Dems look bad?

Sorry sweetie pie, but ICE isn't going away anytime soon.

There is a legal, gray area (in my present understanding) of when and where regulatory capture of the airlines or airports occurred.

TSA and federal jurisdiction seem to have been imposed as a condition of bail out, when these businesses failed in the late 1990's to 2010's

I would require further clarification, but it seems that inadmissibles could be blocked at the gates, on a legal technicality that it's been nationalized.

Democratic Socialism is the best way. Putting people first, the strong helping the weak so that the weak can contribute to society to the fullest, not through revolution but democratic action.

The time for Democratic Socialism is coming. It is the perfect answer to the misguided greed eating the world.

Only problem with that plan (which I support, don’t get me wrong) is that the ruling class won’t simply allow their power to be voted away.

Nobody ever *wants* a violent revolution, that’s just always the final option on the table.

Problem as the weak are just puppets of social security and disabled benefits.  Nothing could ever make them more useful then what is already provided. A.i. makes slave laborers of us all.

In this you err greatly.

A  lot of unemployed are highly motivated to work again, they just met with bad luck upon bad luck - including sometimes sincere disability.

If you do not penalise and short them but instead go long and reinvest in them as functional members of society, many could get that second wind and be productive as a worker or employer again.

The rightwing fantasy that the best use for the unemployed is turning them into dogfood or that they are lazy welfare queens is just that, a rightwing fantasy.

Many want to work, even if life knocked them into a wheelchair.

Rightwing misanthropy depends on the mistaken assumption that everybody is as foul a human being as them. Not right-wingers mind you, rightwing misanthropes.

Again I disagree,  ive met a few "anxiety disorders " disabled people that could Reform their life to being a production members of society.  Those physically disabled including the blinded, aren't allowed to work certain jobs and only certain hours, the state decades that with paying there employer for hirinh, and wages.
https://www.dol.gov/agencies/eta/wotc

Problem is only slave labor is needed now. Those actually disabled physically can never be used for physical labor. Job lost in all education required jobs thanks to a.i. pushes those workers to the slave labor jobs.

How in your opinion would a democratic socialist government fix this problem legally.  How could they fix this problem with what investment.

Stop the war Israel bad universal healthcare would be great. First things first though. I want to hear about how the next admin is going to pick Jack Smith for AG and give him all the resources he needs to uncover and punish every criminal act committed by the trump crime family add anyone associated with them.

I am really happy with the victories though.

Welfare states on both sides of the Atlantic have discovered that largesse to losers does not reduce their hostility to society, but only increases it. Far from producing gratitude, generosity is seen as an admission of guilt, and the reparations as inadequate compensations for injustices - leading to worsening behavior by the recipients.

Tytler said:
A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to selfishness; From selfishness to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage.

DJT has characterized the rise of democratic socialism in the U.S. as a serious danger to the country, yet without characterizing America's regulatory capture of every means of production as Marxist Communism.

All of the 10 planks exist in the US, in spite of anti-Communist legislation having long since been passed.

The laws have not been enforced, or there could be no battle of definition.

You have definitely tried "it", and tried it.

Communism's never worked, yet.

The demoralization stage is sliding into normalization, civic renewal, ie. a dictatorship.

I’m not sure Jack Smith is up to the current moment, but I agree with the sentiment. One of the dominoes that led to this moment is Obama legitimizing all the crimes of the Bush administration.

I don’t have any faith that the next democratic president, whether that’s AOC or anyone else, is going to burn through political capital punishing the crimes of the Trump years, but one can hope.

Not saying we can’t have both, but I’d rather abolish ICE and have Medicare for all than put Trump in jail for the final few miserable years of his life.

Not putting some of them in jail pretty much gives a pass to future bad acts.  Power corrupts and ultimate power is just bad, and the only counter to that is proving that when given the responsibility, it has to mean something.  Can't really accomplish that if you can just do anything and never have to pay.  Be nice to get some money back too, even if it cost a bunch to get it.  We need to take the incentive away from being a crook at our expense.  We will never have enough to do the other stuff if stealing is ok.

I'm not as interested in trump behind bars as I am in those around him. Trump's probably going to keel over soon. Those fucking doge boys though. Young and healthy. Publicly flogged, life sentence. They could probably live another sixty glorious years in prison. Musk too. Trump's children etc...

Well right now Kamala Harris and Gavin Newsom are trying to get eventual endorsements from Mamdani, so maybe we need to make sure the Dems who orchestrated a genocide don’t get back in power, first.
