You can scrape the spores directly onto PF style jars as long as you don't have verm on top. You can also scrape them directly into rye. The syringe is just a handy way to inoculate your jars while trying to minimize contams.

Syringes help to speed up colinization. They get the spores all over the place.

I have scraped off some spores from a print and put that on a MEA plate, takes time before they germinate, but they produced some nice mycelium , the scraping and putting in jars will also work!!

I am of the same opinion. My very first attempt at cultivation was with a homestead kit. The kit is NOT designed for newbies! they tell you to streak the plates with dry spores. It DON"T WORK TOO WELL! lol....BUT after making a spore syringe with the left over piece of print (a peice is all you get) I squirted a few drops on a couple of plates and they grew like a MF. So it would seem that re-hydration of the spores certainly gives them a big advantage.... If your substrate is nice and moist then you might be able to scrape some spores off in there and shake them in. You could still theoretically get the same results, if the substrate is shakable and you can move the germinating mycelium around... IF you need a Blank syringe why don't you just ASK someone to send you a used one? It will of course need to be re-sterilized...
