Another day all lame and sick, at least I'm not making it worse by drinking now.

What a tune!!
Keep it up boys, day 1 of the nicotine. Probably biting of more than I can chew with stopping the drink too.

Day 20. Went out for wings for dinner with one of our couple friends and another friend and their kids. Diet Pepsi for me, can't lie the cold pints on the table looked fucking tasty. The difference is they went home and probably didn't drink anymore. I would have went home and had 10 more before bed.

yup i miss the "adult taste" of drinks more then i do the "high" cause the high fucking sucked for a long time, although it pretty novel the first time you ever drink, thats the big issue i think with most alcoholics

Day 3. No nicotine. I feel like I've lost my mind. Tons of energy now. Barely sleeping. Maybe 6 hours where I used to sleep 12 on the drink. Eating like a horse. Hopefully will balance itself out soon.

Hey guys, glad you're all keeping strong.

Less pain and nausea today. Still no desire to drink or anything. I've quit before for years and it's been like this, just don't feel like I want it anymore. The relapse risk is always way down the path, poor stress management skills or thinking I can just enjoy a festival or a night out gets me. Shoots my inhibition to hell and I end up back in this place after a while.

It's getting old though, I'm getting old. Can't keep reproducing this cycle.

I used to make homebrew too! I find you just have to be ok with being triggered sometimes. Homeless people get me good sometimes. Cans scattered about. Maybe a crack pipe in hand. First thing in the morning. I see that and think must be nice on my way to work but I do know that struggle. I have no real desire to return to that life but fantasize about it briefly when I see it. Just let it pass, it does.

Best wishes for another alcohol free day everyone.

Jungle ghost, addict/alcoholic.

Today I'm grateful that I am not nauseous or have crippling acid reflux.

How's everyone holding up?

56 months alcohol free tomorrow. I was blackout drunk and arrested for threatening liquor store staff when they wouldn't serve me 56 months ago. I got into another dispute in a liquor store the following day and was brought to hospital by police. I was on meth and drinking September 7th 2021. Date of my last stimulant or alcohol use.

Keep up the good work everyone. Recovery is possible and so worth it.

Hey.. I am here, have turned up.
How does this thread work?

I've been a binge-rum- devourer for life, but maintain years of being sober.

6 weeks ago I lost the one thing that was holding me together, pushing me as a responsibility- forcing me to get out of bed each morning. Since I lost her, have just fallen apart at the seams. Questioning purpose, identity, and where I belong.

The grief was at a level I didnt know was possible, way out of what could be managed. So I picked the bottle back up and have drank 'medicinally.'
Basically taking a swig when the emotions were too much to handle.

Suppose it went on long enough to become physically dependent
The amount I drink is disgusting.. but I have lately been able to stretch a handle to 6 days, vs the 4 days before.
Recently, I began to mark the bottle with a sharpie, and respect the line when it comes to allotment for the day.
And yes, am proud of that.

But it takes a couple of shots when I wake just to get my hands still, my mood where it needs to be.

I accepted a long time ago, that I was an alcoholic.. it is rife on both sides of family- Understand the ramifications. And that this has gone in a direction I must break from.

So, thats where I am at
I deal with social anxiety and agoraphobia- hence no big book meetings (I once belonged to an AA chapter a while back).

Tbh, I dont agree with every aspect of the foundational steps program, completely.
While I get the importance of a higher power, it isn't a traditional spiritual master that I tap into.

Maybe that means I dont belong here, either. But I am trying to get right, the grief is intense at times, but nothing like before.
Feel like I can push through without the numbing- even if it is just gradually cutting back, at this time.

If I should show face here, please fill me in on what yall do and ask for. This is my current compromise.

And for those who have survived and live sober lives, my utmost of respect goes out.

From all I may be, or have been before,

What I can neโ€™er express, yet cannot all conceal.
