@JW , its great to see some of us starting to mess around outside...good luck on the new patch!  ...I started some poppies this year too from an old pack I found , but kinda hope they do nothing tbh:lol:

wanting to add more perennial veggies, milkweed and maybe some corn if i can dig up some more yard...

recently sown kaleidoscope kale and good king Henry.  going to give up bed space for it and will be doing less peppers this year, especially the hots, im living through DERRAYLD for the moment.....a lot more bell though.

red cabbage and bok choys starting to germinate now also.

I sowed my first seeds of the year yesterday, the propagation has started.

Trying some new and recurring stuff.
Okahijiki.
Jalapeños.
Habaneros.
Spaghetti squash.
Amaranth.
Thai basil.
A fragrant passionfruit I found in store and saved the seeds from.
Maiz morado I crossed with hybrid sweetcorn last year.

I bought two pawpaw trees two years ago and they both have flower buds forming. I'm very excited to see if I can get some fruit forming on them, I have never had a pawpaw before.

I'm very happy with my germ rate on these trays. There are a few cells that didn't produce viable seedlings but I got at least 1 of every variety I seeded. The Aji Charapitas were unsurprisingly the last to pop.

These cayenne and tabasco seedlings are looking real hearty too.

I'll probably thin them out in a week or two. I also brought a bucket of worms and a bunch of gross fabric planters from the old place.

not the best germ rate for me but i should be using a lighter soil this shit is too dense.

or its because the ones that havent germ were seeds i saved from last season. ive never 'dried' or preserved seeds before. i just patted them dry and put them in baggies:shrug:

I always just dry mine and throw them in baggies  :thumbup: You can always try the paper towel method with pepper seeds for better results  :thumbup:

When do you usually plant peppers in Kentucky?

My Tomato Princess sent me some new genetics to try out. She’s only growing yellows this year. I’m looking forward to seeing a Yellow Fuzzy Boar.

I start mine indoors in February and I usually put them out permanently the second week of April.

I have never heard of any of those strains man.  I can't wait to see how all those turn out!  :yesnod:

I did a little experiment last year where I avoided thinning out some seedlings. I waited until it was time to pot them up to separate them and I can't say it was very successful. I don't think more than 20% of them survived. I'm not saying it's impossible but I certainly can't figure out how to do so without damaging the roots.

Same here. Most of my plants have adapted to the massive swing in temps we've been having this spring surprisingly. Even my topical plants have.

Oh man, which reminds me! I did the lazy mans way of germinating a bunch of mixed pepper seeds that I had and I gotta go dig them out of the pot. Peppers are easy transplants. I'll show you how I do it soon  :thumbup:
