I'll be trying 4g dried ground myc grain today on the assumption that a gram is roughly equal to the potency of cubensis. About 4 or 5 months since inoc and heavily bruised before drying.

Dried ground powder smells like dried ground mushrooms

Felt like a 0.5-1g of cubensis so very mild but nice nonetheless. I'll be able to adjust the dosage for next time :mushroom2:

Im a little confused.  As I read Rev's results, dried ground myc should be more potent than a standard cube?  Am I missing something?

It depends on the grain. Most grains seem to be in the ballpark of a standard cube, say 8 to 12 mg/gr, dry. A few check higher, like wheat. Others lower, like popcorn. Which I find interesting because the grain type doesn't seem to make a difference for fruit, But the Reverends results, a small data set to be sure so no conclusions can really be drawn, span a factor of 3 or so from the worst to the best. If reproduceable, then that raises questions like does the use of sprouted grain make a difference?

I did some bad science today before I turned it into good science. Went to wash a beaker with a purified fungal polyphenol residue with acetone to clean it out and watched the acetone turn vivid dark blue violet in seconds. I thought my pigment had a new property I hadn't observed before and got all excited. Then I tried to repeat it by adding some of the phenolic crystals from a different container to some acetone in a vial and no blue appeared. I realized the first beaker that turned blue had been contaminated with a tiny invisible flake of crystal violet (C25H30ClN3) from a nearby waste bin which caused the blue reaction.

At least I found the vector.

Good science is just observation and then thinking about the observation. It doesn't have to be fancy.

I'm into plasmodium but I don't work with it often because it's so fast. I like to mostly work with things that fit into my schedule like trich and cladosporium.  Basido's of course...

Slimes are more like pets. More care, and they get bummed out when I don't pay attention to them.  There may come a time when I fancy driving race cars like slimes.

So I am curious as to how this all plays out in the long run with different batches, ranges of bioassay, different cultures etc.  My experience is that 1-2 grains of rye is my perfect micro and any more shifts my day. If I go to see some music or feel like having a special occasion the amount that fits in a small jewelers bag is perfect and if I eat it all within an hour the beauty and color comes out with the spirit, telepathic range widens, and dimentional planes are more observable and plastic. Wavelengths and time are layered. The grain very often surprises me and has a touchy accelerator and high torque.

These are just observations that are observably repetitive.  Props to those of you who are trying to systematically nail down reliability and consistency. IME it is well worth it and laughably good and easy.

I have been interested in the myceliated grain approach out of curiosity and to try something different.  Was just wondering if the grain you described is Semperviva, how long did it consolidate in the jar, and was it dehydrated or eaten fresh?  Also, you mentioned 1-2 grains for a micro...not grams, correct? Thanks!

12g dried grains in tea resulted in a trip equivalent to about a gram of cubes. Not to discourage anyone. I'll def give them another try but for this batch they're likely best for micros.

Has anyone sampled Coyo spawn? Ive got 2 jars that are 6mo old. It wasn't until recently I learned that it's a much less domesticated locality, so jc if I should expect it to pack a punch just the same.

Hoping to add some knowledge this weekend.  Got some subtropicalis on popcorn about 5m old.  Zap holy grail 5m old and some zap talpa (sp?) about 5m old on millet.  Also some subtrops on millet....All freeze dried and ready to test for potency.

Underwhelming results when taking 3m old subtropicalis popcorn ground into flour and made into muffins, but more research needed.  Hopefully can get some numbers up this weekend.

The zap mycelium may not be active, but I haven't had luck fruiting it so, going to see if it is any good without fruiting.

I may not have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express, but I have taken 20 grams of fresh subtropicalis

Rev,I'm super excited in the data you've provided.  Just got 6 quarts of subtropicalis on wheat. That are close to fully colonized.  Will start another 6 quarts on quinoa soon.  Looking forward to making some gummies with the resulting products.  Also ordered a 10 pack of puritytestkits.  Really excited about the option to have invitro psylocybin growth options besides sclerotia.

All in all I'm just excited to be growing mushrooms again and hoping to do some soul searching/healing in the new year.  Cheers!

Sweet!

Got the next results.

Day 300
Potency still rising @ 16.19 mg/g
dry weight still dropping slowly and ABE barely delectably rising.

I did grab the predehydration weight this time. It was 38 grams, down from a starting weight of 50 grams. I plan to start 10 more jars on the next run, but didn't have time this round with all of the holiday stuff going on. So in the future I will have wet and dry weights to track. I will figure out a way to add that and make a pretty graph that includes the new and old data for the first 10 points.
