Caulk causing mutations on magic mushrooms

Many, many moons ago...I used to have a Styro-foam terrarium with an exhaust fan, humidity tubes, and a built in viewing window. The window was convenient. My window was sealed with caulk. I have reason to believe that the caulk, although it was completely dry, clean, and sanitized, caused mutations and screwed up the yield potential. The caulked terrariums fucked up both cakes and casing. When I stopped using caulk, I had a dramatic change in yield and amazing growth. Has anyone experienced weird things when growing in a caulked terrarium.

i usually dont use caulk i just tape things with duct tape

i guess you have learned a valuable lesson - dont use caulk while growing  :smile:

Duct Tape, never thought of that, that's good idea. I guess it would be fairly sterile if you keep it clean on the sides of the role.

I used Duct Tape and the sprayed everything down with Lysol real good to sterilize it. Duct Tape works great and doesn't cause mutations. This method has worked time and time again for me. Just make sure you tape it up real good so there are no leaks where contams can get in. Hope that helps!

try superglue. doesnt take much to hold almost anything

F**k super glue. super has a tendency to melt EVERYTHING. and super glue just sucks overall.

100% silicone works very well and you can smooth it out with a wet paper towel. (right next to caulk in the hardware isle) its also mold resistant and never dries out or cracks.
