    #1830563 - 08/19/03 06:12 PM (13 years, 3 months ago)

a foaf has a spawn bag goin and the enviorment isnt to sterile and he dont want to risk contaminating the spawn, so he was going to fruit in the bag, kinda like a myco bag, he was wondering if it was possible to cold shock it for like 12 hours then place in the fruiting enviorment, and if it would help any? thanks

Fruiting it inside the bag won't work then..... You can have a few fruits but that would be a waste of time and substrate IMO....

I advice you to case them with 50/50 layer.... Here is a step by step explanation by UNA;

http://www.mushmush.nl/methods/methodes_nr.php?nr=2

And coldshock the casings before placing into fruiting environment.... GTs can be a pain in the ass when not cold-shocked...... :smile:

If that is so, then how are these guys selling the myco bags and other brand spawn bags that are intended for in bag fruiting making any money if they dont work, i mean im not saying your wrong a foaf is still very new at all this but i was just currious. but anyway a foaf will take your advice and hope for no contams, he also has 24 pint jars and 12 half pint jars fully colonized with golden teacher with rice flour and verm substrate, ca he case all these together, or should he stick with growing in vitro wich has worked for him the two other times he grew mushrooms, gourmet mushrooms of couse.

  There are some strains that can be fruited inside the bag... For example;

http://www.sporeworks.com/reishikit.html

http://www.sporeworks.com/oysterkit.html

  But i've never read a TEK the does this with Cubensis..... However, for my contaminated mycobags, i sometimes cut the top open, water it and place in somewhere meeting the fruiting conditions... Just a few fruits is what i get.... But you can have hhuugge yields when you case them....

I personally wouldn't case them together. The bag already has a great load of colonized substrate. Birth the jars as cakes or case separately IMO of course..... :smile: Good Luck!

you have a far better chance of a response to this Q by posting it, in a fresh thread, in OTD, or the pub, or general questions forum.

nobody will see your question buried in this thread about something else in cultivation! good luck  :smile:
