MycCycles LAGM 2025 Log

I'm in!
Psilocybe Azurescens
Ps. Semperviva/Subtropicalis
Ps. Cubensis - Machine Elf

I'll do a medicinal/gourmet as well if I manage to source or get fruits in time to get some spores 😊

Edit: look what the universe has provided within 24h of receiving the Azurescens

Adding Oyster Mushroom to the list 🤩

8th of Feb:

Finally got around to work a little with the plates and fruiting blocks for the Oyster mushrooms.
Terrible pictures, but I guess it's something, right?

Ps. Azurescens

Machine Elf

Semp/Subtropicalis
These have been quite slow, but I'm certainly seeing movement.

The wild oyster swabs are ready. TBC.

And lastly, the blocks:

These ended up at around 4lbs/1,9kgs each and are supplemented.
(Cheated with some vendor LC just to try these and hopefully grow anything gourmet).
Hopefully these will also work for the Azurescens.
I'm leaning towards modifying a fridge with ventilation, a fogger and automatic controls just to get the temperatures optimal.

I'm in! Will be doing Gymnopilus aeruginosus (hopefully arrives before January) and P galindoi. Must have the prints somewhere but can't find them atm. Plates poured and wrapped.

12-24
Found craggy old galindoi prints from '20. Will go to Alder infused GWA. It's what I made cause I needed some for subaeruginosa transfers

If the G aeruginosus prints arrive in time, they will also go to Alder infused GWA 01-01.

12-28
Entered another horse in this race: Ecuadorians I found back in the print stash.
Also made some BRF agar with a little yeast, so all three can go to BRF and GWA. Why not.

01-01-2025
Fuck yeah now it's real.
The Gym spores are still in limbo, so it'll just be cubensis and galindoi for now.
Of course I'm not going to have the fastest horses in this race, what with all the TC's and people with waaaaay better stuff, but I'm really honored to participate in LAGM. I screwed around a little with one of the cube streaks, we'll see how it turns out. Also the GWA plates were poured after a day of heavy smoking, and they look like it. Whatever.

01-03 Thoughts on agar
The subaeruginosa (not in LAGM) behaves super weird on the GWA. LadiesKnight and Stipe-n-Cap pointed out (in the All Things Agar thread) that GWA of course accumulates everything nasty that might have been on the grains used (bacterial toxins, synthesized during the soak, agricultural biocides etc), which would be a fair explanation.
On the other hand both P. ovoideocystidiata and the IWL display regular growth on the exact same batch of agar. So I guess LAGM will be a test. If one of the other species looks fucky on it, I might ditch it altogether. It's a learning experience already.

01-06 I can't for the life if me capture it on cam, but there seems to be germination on one of the galindoi plates.

That was a false alarm.

01-10 Germination of cubensis on GWA. Galindoi doesn't do a thing.

01-12 Made the first cube transfer. Zombie stoned. Heated the knife with a candle, because I couldn't find the lighter, and crudely made my soot covered cut.

01-12 The shame is all too real. It was one of the mispoured GWA plates. I stabbed it over and over because I couldn't hear the hot knife hiss. I guess this is the most fucked up piece of agar I've produced so far. This is what happens if 'YOU'RE a towel'.

01-19 Just when I gave up the idea of growing Gyms in the foreseeable future, Alakappalachian offered me a swab. Really fucking nice.
The T1s today:

They look sus to me, because I've only been doing WLs for months, but everything checks out, so it's probably just my perception.

01-23 The BRF plate germinated a couple days ago (cube). Made a T2 today, and as there's backup, will be sending some T1 wedges to grain. I am experimenting with grains ATM, so far I really like spelt. So it will be spelt. It's PCing now, will probably be sent in a few days.

01-25 Sent four wedges (3 T1s and a T0) to grain.

02-02 Cubes are looking happy.

Haven't been keeping track here... Edit 03-27: first and second flush spelt

First flush rice (rice above, second flush spelt below)

Second flush rice

Third flush spelt

LAGM 2025

Broadcasting live from the 49th Dimension

:awecid:

:petri: Target Species: Neoxalapensis (var acajete), Neoxalapensis (unknown var), Stropharia Alcis (not active), and Panaeolus cinctulus (WA)

:petri: Methods: All species will be cultivated via spores>>grain>>non-sterile bulk, in boxes/tubs

:petri: Sources: Neoxalapensis acajete: WavyEdge from his 2024 indoor grow,
                            Neoxalapensis (unknown): SupaThaRipper
Stropharia alcis: Wild - Matanuska Valley, AK 2024
                            Panaeolus cinctulus: Washington state, 2020

PSILOCYBE NEOXALAPENSIS

(to commence 1Jan25)

STROPHARIA ALCIS

3Jan25:

Inoculated 2x Neoxalapensis acajete and 2 plates Stropharia alcis.  Agar was made from potato broth:H20 40:60, a dash of yeast, and maybe a couple teaspoons of raw honey, and 10g agar.

9Jan:
[

Stropharia alcis germinated, but none visible on the Neoxalapensis plates.  Excited.

26Jan:

Taking a wedge from this T1 stropharia alcis out of boredom to oats today.  Fitty fitty.  Ya never know

Adding cinctulus to the mix since round 2 neox germ dishes are still a no-go.  Streaked a week ago,  germed in <48hrs, and copious pseudosclerotia already forming.  I like it.

3 Stropharia alcis jars almost ready for moose dung.  Let the hunt begin! :zoidberg:

2Mar:

Time to pasteurize some moose dung! (for the stropharia alcis)
:zoidberg:
So, so easy to prep.
Step 1: fill jars to the rim with winter-phase nuggets (the round ones - which are different from spring/summer phase dropping- although those are awesome too, but aren't as easy to prep...).
Step 2: fill jars with water to rim.  Unless they're already super-saturated,  they'll effervesce as they take on water/release trapped air.  It's quite fancy.
Stop 3: stove-top pasteurize in water bath 1hr.
Step 4: drain water,  and they'll be at perfect field capacity.  Empty into tub and break up/level as you would any bulk.  Perfect every time 👌
Now you know!:cookiemonster:

6Mar:

Spawned a 24oz stropharia alcis to each of these 6qt boxes.  Moose dung in both, but one has a peat casing and one has a coir topping.
The smell of the spawn was WEIRD.  It had all the oddball,  somewhat sharp umami of shitake, but not as pungent.  If you can imagine shitake, an exotic polymer, and blood having a lovechild, you'll have no issues imagining it.  Intriguing.

Had this questionable cinctulus sitting around for a while,  but after seemingly overcoming a spot of mold a week and a half ago,  I figured I'd toss it in some extra moose dung for funsies. Will definitely produce some more good spawn later and do a full attempt.  Pivoting back to Neoxalapensis now that I got the s. alcis on bulk.

26Mar

Stropharia alcis boxes getting cased today with peat after consolidating a couple weeks or so.

Perfect timing! I just made my first batch of agar on 12/8 using Bods EAF tek. Got 39 MEA plates to work with. Have some 3rd Eye clones on plates, Tidal Wave x APE LC, SNAPE LC, Hillbilly LC, and some Figi spores.

So I’ll go w Fiji for the community grow. Will be my first spore to agar attempt!  I’ll also be running the others, so maybe can take the Hillbilly back to spore and see about a shot at largest fruit.

-------------------------------------------------

Here's my SAB workspace...guest bath in basement that gets nearly no use but cleaned 2x/mo by cleaner, and again by me after...no HVAC so limited drafts, etc.

SAB is a 200 qt big boy. arm holes covered w/ magnetic vent covers (though i think in hindsight should have been a little narrower...next time).

Fold-up table gets a heavy iso70 spray down each time I'm using. SAB too, lysol after that.

I drop my dyson HEPA in the room for a couple hours before letting everything settle for another couple hours before work.

-------------------------------------------------

Update 12/31/2024…
Feeling like the more shots on goal the better, so I’m going take a shot w all the vars I currently have. I’ve had a hell of a time getting LC to agar to take, but having poured my own plates and only 1 of 39 looking funky, I’m optimistic.

Updating my initial post, I’ll do:

1/ Ps. Cubensis - Figi from MSS to agar…if needed will also be trying MSS to BRF to agar

2/ Ps. Cubensis - SNAPE from LC to agar…once flushed will attempt a print and back to agar…

3/ Ps. Cubensis - Hillbilly from LC to agar…once flushed will attempt a print and back to agar…

4/ Ps. Cubensis - Tidal Wave x APE from LC to agar…once flushed will attempt a print and back to agar…

5/ Ps. Cubensis - 3rd Eye from agar culture…I’ve fruited this and have an active tub…I don’t think it sporulates (all 4 flushes to date have been through to wide open veil with no signs of spores…am I wrong that albinos don’t drop spores?), but if I get another flush will give it a try…

1/2/2025

Plates are running, fingers are cross...some of these will be taking the scenic route to get spores to agar, but I am dead set on getting some to work!

All 90mm plates...were LME @ 20g/1000ml agar & ~20g/LME, poured 39 from 1000ml
- let them sit ~2 weeks, one had grew out dirty
- my first ever agar pours (or no pour)

TWxAPE x 4 via LC
SNAPE x 4 via LC
Hillbilly x 4 via LC
Figi x 2 via MSS
Also did my first transfers from some grown out 3rd eye clones 2 per clone

1/5/2025

bit of a photo dump update with hopes of getting some help for my noobery and related questions...i think i am mostly growing bacteria but want to confirm.

Fiji - from spore syringe...did some fumbling w/ the loop spreading these out and sorta mangled the plates, but looks like any subsequent growth is not myc?

TW x APE - from LC with hopes of growing out to spores and back again...any good growth in these or just funk?

SNAPE - nothing going on yet

Hillbilly - another LC hoping to grow to get some prints/swabs...this one had something really funky take off on the third plate...im assuming this is just bad?

3rd Eye Clones - have three clones running through 2nd transfer in an effort to get a swab and some spores (doesnt dump). These all are off to the races, but T2-C3-2 looks to my untrained noob eye that there might be a contam infringing around where i drew a line...should i transfer again from the opposite side or does it look fine to y'all?

As a more general question I would appreciate any views on, what do you all suppose is the most likely source of contam in these?

My thought process is:
1/ given the plates were 38 of 39 clear w/o any visible contams after 2 weeks, that part of the process (my first pours) is likely OK.
2/ given i have now done 3 clones w/o contam (fully grown out plates were clean) and 5 of the 6 transfers look clean, the sterile tech and SAB don't seem inherently dirty.

So the LC/MSS seem like could be the sources of contam, but I am really wide open to thoughts and hoping to use all of this as a learning curve accelerator.

1/7/2025

Took a transfer from second sample from that third 3rd eye clone that appeared to have some contam

Also have BRF puck materials on order for delivery tomorrow. Excited to try another tek for cleaning up what seems like could be both stubborn and dirty cultures/spores.

3rd Eye tub I was trying to reboot seems to be potentially making a comeback...will see if they abort.

Various plates from the earlier post that now have some potential life beyond just bac. not sure if salvageable but considering trying the Josex poke tek.

I'm in, will do 2 grows for this thread:

- Nats (or whatever the fuck we're calling them now)
- Penis Envy Uncut. Got an old syringe that I should do something with

Update Jan 1

Somehow managed to do this just after midnight while tripping balls on 5g of x7x+ :crazy2:

Not my best work but hey I got my spores on agar

:vibin:

Update Jan 4

Nats starting to show growth, nothing visible from the PEU quite yet. No contams or other funny business so I guess I managed to do alright with these germ plates.

Update Jan 5

PEU starting to show growth

Update Jan 7

Plate pic

Update Jan 8

Starting my day with some transfers

Update Jan 14

Second transfer for the "nats". How things stand today:

I'll get those PEU to T2 in a day or two

Update Jan 15

My PEU transfers weren't looking great so I went back to my germ plate for a couple fresh T1s. Also transferred from one plate to compare how the growth looks on this batch of agar

Update Jan 21

Sent 2x PEU and 2x Nats to grain this morning

:robindance:

Update Jan 26

Update Jan 27

:pawshake:

Update Jan 30

Update Feb 1

Nats about ready to spawn. PEU taking its sweet fucking time

:waitingpatiently:

Update Feb 3

Spawned one jar of nats

:letsgo:

Update Feb 4

Last jar of nats is still showing a couple of uncolonized grains, going to give it another day before spawning. Meanwhile, PEU continues to be slow af

Update Feb 5

Spawned the second nat tub.

First nat tub and PEU spawn

:creepylurker:

Update Feb 13

Update Feb 19

PEU spawned to shoeboxes. Finally. I've been experimenting with letting my tubs colonize a bit before compressing so still super loose and fluffy here

Decided to scrape the overlay off one of these since there aren't any pins or knots yet and let the other ride.

Update Feb 20

First cluster of pins coming up in one of my "nat" tubs.

Update Feb 22

Lost that pinning tub to trich today. I didn't let the nat jars consolidate when they looked to be 100% so I'm guessing there was still some uncolonized grain on the interior of the jar that got spawned. That's what I get for cutting corners...

:makesmecry:

Update Feb 23

Seeing some pins in the other nat tub. Though that surface... seems like my nat tubs always end up looking pretty gnarly after removing the overlay

Compressed and leveled the PEU tubs, shouldn't need to do much else here until harvest

Update Feb 27

This culture is not a winner, really just wants to overlay

PEU slow but getting there

Update Mar 1

:disappoint:

Update Mar 3

Well. It fruited. Yay.

PEU tubs looking pretty alright

Update Mar 4

Put this one out of its misery today

Update Mar 8

:ifindthisboring::cattoy:

Update Mar 16

Still not a whole lot going on here. Added a fresh layer of coir to get a new surface that will hopefully actually pin. I also took a fresh T1 from my PEU germ plate in case these don't do anything. I'm gonna get some fruits for this thread dammit

Update Mar 21

Taking that fresh T1 was the right call. I noticed a small spot of Penicillium in one tub today so tossed it; only one tub left. Overall this grow has been a total failure so far

:hotdamn:

Update Mar 28

Update Mar 29

Going to give it another couple days then do another transfer from this plate

Update Apr 2

The fruit from the last update aborted. Because of course it did. Got a few more coming up though. I won't be happy until I have a tub full of shrooms for this thread.

Update Apr 17

This grow is cursed. I tossed that PEU tub a couple days ago. Not obviously contaminated but every fruit was aborting before full development. I've got one plate with decent looking myc on it that I will be transferring shortly. If that still looks fucky after growing it out a bit I'll go back to my germ plates or spore (again).

Update May 23

Ok, I’m in. Got some pans spores from Bambus in the marketplace. I’ve been just staring at the envelope feeling very intimidated. I will use this space to capture my first attempts with pans:

-Pan cambo (Komodo)
-Pan bisporous
-Pan cyan (BVI)

I’ll get everything on agar after I get back from New Years and will go from there.

First official entry:

Step 1: Clean the living daylights out of my work/grow space. It got horribly misused as a gift hiding and wrapping room over the holiday. There are empty delivery boxes and shreds of wrapping paper everywhere. I’ll also start running the air purifier.

Step 2: Pick one of the three prints and get started. Obviously, spores to agar in a SAB the first weekend of the new year.

Step 3: Agar to Agar as necessary for clean up.

Step 4: Rye prep. (Need to find a good tek for that.)

Step 5: Innoc jars in SAB with agar wedges. Fastest jar to colonize fully will get sent. According to just about every tek or post ever, the point is to get something good to clone.

Step 6: Baba’s manure water to coir tek. Seems simple enough to be beginner-friendly and can’t argue with results.

Step 7: When I figure out exactly what comes next on the way to fruiting, I’ll update here. This is where things get hazy. Need to work out both the timing and a fruiting chamber of some kind.

Step 8: Case with Jiffy.

Step 9: Theoretically, first pins. If none, I’ll go take a long shower and contemplate all my life decisions until the water runs cold and then try again.

Step 10: First fruits.

Step 11: Try pans for the first time and report back on the trip.

1/3/25 - Spores to Agar

Got home from my NYE adventure a day later than I thought I would. Time flies when you’re having fun! I’ve now got my Pan Bispo and BVI both on agar. Did one zigzag on LME and one on potato dextrose for each, just for giggles. Clean work in SAB. Plates are all wrapped up. Now to wait and keep fingers crossed.

In slightly unrelated news, as a holiday gift from my fav vendor, he included a couple of extra LCs I wasn’t counting on. So my non-LAGM dance card for Q1 of 2025 is also pretty full.

1/7/25 - Update

Pan Bispo showing first signs of mic. So far the only plate with apparent germination.

1/11/25 - Update

Pan Bispo: Took first transfers - agar to agar.

Pan TTBVI: One plate showed nothing but contam, the second plate shows nothing at all. Decided to hit a couple of fresh plates using a sterile cue tip instead of the Innoc loop I used the first time.

1/17/25 - Update

Pan Bispo - Both plates grew out, but one grew much faster than the other, so took two transfers agar to agar on a leading edge of the faster plate.

Pan TTBVI - Finally got what looks like a tiny amount of growth going on one of the new plates from the 1/11 spores to agar attempt.

My next update will include pictures of how these plates are growing out. If my Pan Bispo looks good, I’ll fire up the PC and get ready to send it. I’ve been mulling over my available fruiting supplies and I think, with Bispo being pretty humidity tolerant, I have an idea. I’ll share my setup when the time comes.

At this point by the time I have TTBVI myc to send the weather will likely be cooperating enough that it’s going outside.

1/22/25 - Update

Pan Bispo at hopefully final transfer. Pan TYBVI right before going agar to agar. Just a quick couple of pics as proof of life.

The Bispo may go to grain this weekend. Will use rye and then baba’s boiled hpoo to coir tek. For the TTBVI, I’ll be trying out Mud’s bottle tek.

1/27/25 - Update

Pan Bispo: Wedges went to a total of pint jars that are 3/4 filled. I was a bit of a bill in a china shop and a couple of my jars got smaller wedges due to my clumsy self dropping a wedge to the bottom of my SAB. I’m good like that. I figure if I can get 2 out of the eight working out then it’ll be enough to all be worth it, so long as my fruiting situation gets me something I can clone.

Pan TTBVI: One of the two cultures on sorghum water agar (green) is looking pretty good, if overfed. The .5% LME plate needs further cleaning up. Probably go agar to agar with that later today.

1/30/25 - Update

Pan Bispo: The pan gods appear to have begun to accept my offering of grain.

Pan TTBVI: I’ve got some decent growth on a couple of plates. I went agar to agar for later, but will be innocing tiny little half pints  as a more-or-less practice test. I layered a thin brf/verm puck over the top of ladyfinger corn with a little bit of field-aged hpoo at the bottom.

1/31/25 - Update

Pan Bispo: several jars are showing a little myc growth now. I’ll update on these again if any fully colonize.

Pan TTBVI:

Went agar to grain. Field aged Hpoo at the bottom, ladyfinger corn in the middle and probably just enough space for the BRF/Verm puck at the top and still shakable if that looks like a good idea later. First time prepping any kind of corn, so we’ll see if the myc takes hold.

Pan Cambo: Spores going to agar next week.

2/25/25 - Update

Pan Cambo has not yet made it to agar. Shooting for this weekend for that.

Pan Cyan TTBVI - I went several ways with these when I went Agar to grain. I did some mini jars with corn and hpoo as described in my last update, but I also did straight rye for one pint and then tried my hand at three of Treefrogs AIO jars with multi-grain.

Pic of the mini jars cased with jiffy and put outside.

Pic of the one AIO jar that has done much of anything. I think everything just got too dry in these.

Pics of the setup for the one pint of TTBVI on rye only. I did Baba’s hpoo water and coir tek and created these mini grows JCM style.

Pan Bispo - No pics today, but I have the Pans in pans. Used the rest of the coir from the hpoo and coir tek and covered the top loosely with plastic. Three of the pans are outside and then one is in a water tub with just an aquarium heater, like I ran my Tamps.

2/27/25 - Update

Quick update today.

Pan Bispo (outdoor fruiting in aluminum pans) Looking great.

Pan Bispo (indoor water tub with aquarium heater) Looking great.

Pan Cyan (outdoor fruiting in half pint jars) Looking meh but time will tell. I’ll be putting a couple of takeout containers outside when I spawn the one AIO that made it. I have a feeling that’ll go better.

Pan Cyan (indoor mini rounds in mini JCM) looking real good as well.

Pan Cambo went to agar. I’ll probably put them on ladyfinger corn when the time comes.

3/3/25 - Update

Cased everything over the weekend.

Pan Bispo - All four aluminum pans of Bispo (both indoor and outdoor) look about the same.

Pan Cyan TTBVI - Mini rounds in the mini JCMs haven’t done much of anything at all, but that may be a good thing. The outdoor AIOs in takeout containers look like the Bispo with some wispy myc pushing through the casing. Meanwhile one of the outdoor half pints has a side pin.

Pan Cambo - Nothing yet on the agar, which is to be expected.

Having won “first plin” with the TTBVI, I’m pretty optimistic that these genetics are tolerant enough to give me some fruits. The heads of the plins are growing out some nice looking myc and, since the source material is sterile, I’ll probably move the agar directly to jars in another week.

3/5/25 - Update

TTBVI in small JCM has started to do a thing. The outdoor takeout trays are not moving as fast, but temps have been up and down, so that makes sense.

3/6/25 - Update

My first Pans. Pulled several of these out of what I can only describe as a stone. More are coming in and it looks like I’ll be picking and drying as this goes, instead of specific flushes.

I’d like to thank Tree Frog, Baba, and JCM for making this possible. I’m not great at growing cubes yet, so it says something about the work you and others have done to make pans accessible to the average relative noob.

3/8/25 - Update

Pan Cyan TTBVI - A few clumps are coming up in the mini JCMs. Some of the fruits are even about three inches long, which is crazy. Not a great deal of cap development on those. But they look good.

The outdoor takeout containers in partially opened ziplocks though… :wowz:

Pan Bispo - Still no change. Think it’ll be another week before pins. Maybe a little longer. Waiting would be easier if I was at least confident they were coming at all.

Pan Cambo - Get germ on a couple of plates. Not quite enough to confidently move to transfer yet. I probably will in a couple of days, from the looks of it.

3/10/25 - Update

Update.

Pan Cyan is still coming in hot outside. Pan Bispo now has one small fruit and another errant pin in the indoor warm water tub and nothing in the three outdoor trays.

The Pan Cambo, my last scheduled LAGM grow, will either go to T2 in a week or right to grain if what I end up with in T1 is pretty enough.

4/5/25 - Update

I think I’m now ready to go with the Pan Cambo. I’ve got more plates that I’ve taken to T2 as well. I did two full PC runs this past week for other projects. Going to get various AIO containers in the PC probably tomorrow. Also thinking hard about getting some agar going for a second run of Pan Bispo. Think I’m in love.

4/21/25 - Update

Pan Cambo went to AIO rounds and an AIO jar on 4/16. Now seeing myc starting to take hold in the AIO jar. Too early to tell what is happening in the AIO rounds.

5/4/25 - Update

Cased the Pan Cambo with Jiffy. Now waiting to see what, if anything, pops up in the next couple of weeks. The grow is outdoors and covered in a plastic bag because the weather currently will support that.

Awwww yeah, glad to see such a turnout! This is gon' be fun!

And I'd like to add that this will be my first attempt at spores -> agar, I've only used PF tek for them in the past. Onward and upward!

I would also like to extend an offer of spores to anyone who wants to get in on this but doesn't have access to marketplace.  Looking very forward to seeing you guys' work!

I’m in

1. Psilocybe Azurescens from a vendor spore syringe
2. Unknown Indian woodlover from a print (gifted from Tweeq)
3. Panaeolus Cyanescens (Peace River variety) from print

Azurescen from spore syringe:

1/1 (early in da mornin) - made 4 master plates of azurescen using a multispore syringe from a trusted vendor

1/5 germination plate (did t1 transfers)

1/8 (did t2 transfers)

This culture is acting nice and aggro, too

1/11

Put Pan Cyan - Peace River and India WoodLover spores to agar today.  Hopefully they germinate without a problem.

T2 azurescen plates moving along just fine.  Making a few azure master jars when these grow out.

I'd like to join :mushroomgrow:

Hopefully my current Ochra & Hillbilly grows go well, jars at 90%!

For this "LAGM 2025" I plan to do more Cubes so I can get these basic tecs consistent!

Materials:
"Syzygy" spore swab & "Amazons" print
LME agar plates
oats/coir
shoeboxes

End Goals:
Get at least 3 ounces dry
Start an outdoor patch w/ leftover subs in garden and woods
Find wild cubes in a cow field
Gain enough skills to grow caerulescens
Trip out

Merry Christmas and Happy New year!!!

1/1/25
-hungover, gigantic headache all damn day, nothing happened

1/2/25
-morning: made my first ever coir substrate for my hillbillies! top fruited 2 slightly suspicious jars and used the 2 other perfect looking ones to make 1qt spawn w/ 2qt coir in 6qt unmodified shoebox with lid flipped. Surprisingly nice smell lol, very much like Earth

used the 200g x 4.44 recipe.

-night: hot poured my first 15 plates (realized i needed PP5 plates after i already got 30 regular ones, 100 of them are on their way though for no-pours). I still found the hot pouring interesting and went well overall.  Only real problem was with the level-ness of my work area... was just too focused on the temperatures to really notice/care until it was too late! The other problem was i had to lean my media bottle over in the PC, so i lost about 50ml to boil-over. I think it increased the nute/agar concentration from ~2% to closer to 4%... but i was doing some reading and higher nutes can be useful for germination plates. Going to try and use ~4g agar 4g LME in 300ml for my transfer plates.
The infra-red thermometer is definitely worth every penny.

used 9g agar/9g LME 450ml water recipe.

setup pics pre/post pour!

tomorrow plate streaking day and doing my first of 2 nat/ochra shoeboxes (thankfully no sus jars)
:mushroom2::heartpump:

1/3/25
nat/ochra box went well, did 1:4 ratio unlike the hillbillies at 1:2

did my swabs and loop scraping for both Syzgzy/Amazon varieties. was a bit tough to scrape the spores off the foil at first, but found a section that did come up and went to town zig-zagging 6 plates each.

now for patience...
will S2B my last 2 nat/ochra jars in another couple days which should keep me busy while the plates germ, heard it can take up to a week or more. Maybe my accidental higher nutrient plates will help- idk.

1/5/25
cooking up transfer plates! first signs of germination spotted on the amazon spores. syzgyz swab plates i dont see shit yet

1/7/25
joining the germ/T1 party with my amazons

I think the germ is looking decent considering my very hard/nutrient rich agar accident... took 2 T1s from the circular growing and thin agar section down low.

syzgyz starting to fuzz on the swab too!

next steps: keep transferring! i'm beginning to understand more the beauty of agar...

Im really new to this stuff. But after i get back to town in the new year im going to start growing. Starting with probably simple mediocre stuff. As i learn and gain more knowledge and have more space to work. I will work into more advanced grows.
