Nutritionfacts.org and Dr Micheal Greger is a genuine site with epidemiological, peer reviewed studies based on truth and science. Did any of you read or watch the videos of the data I've provided? Among Dr Micheal Greger I highly recommend you check out Neal Barnard, John A. McDougall and Darth Gavis. They are the only plant based doctors I know and trust me, there's alot more plant based doctors making it clear animal products cause disease and that plants are better for the environment and cure/prevent disease. There's tons of proof.
Veganism athletes are also becoming more popular.

The diary, egg and meat industry have quite literally been caught corrupting data to say animal products don't cause disease and that it's healthy.
The notion that "it's natural" is nonsense. Sure, it was necessary for our ancestors to consume animal products to survive but not now. If you live in a first world country with access to internet and money, then it is no longer necessary. Is it natural to kill humans? You'd go to jail if you killed humans. Why are animals any different? In the Western world pigs, cows, sheep and chickens are all very intelligent, conscious sentient beings.

And also, no one has answered my question yet. What nutrients can't you get on a plant based that you can get with meat, dairy and eggs?
Lentils, beans, oats, brown rice, quinoa, potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn and all of grains are all high in protein and micro nutrients.
And so called anti nutrients in legumes and grains? More nonsense.

Quote:
You may have heard that some foods, such as wheat and beans, can actually prevent the absorption of certain nutrients. This is caused by a compound called phytic acid, which is found in most plants, but in especially high quantities in grains and legumes. Phytic acid prevents the absorption of minerals such as iron, calcium, manganese, and zinc by binding to them before your body can absorb them.11

Plants store phosphorus in a compound known as phytic acid. Phytic acid can bind to other minerals, such as those mentioned above, and in doing so creates phytates. Our bodies do not have any enzymes capable of breaking down phytates, so we are unable to absorb those nutrients.

However, by the time most of these foods get to our plate, they no longer contain enough phytates to cause problems. This is because sprouting, cooking, baking, processing, soaking, fermenting, and yeast leavening all help to destroy phytates. Since we typically don’t consume completely raw and unprocessed grains and legumes, by the time we consume these foods the amount of phytates remaining is considerably lower. In addition, there might even be health benefits to consuming phytic acid, which has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.12

Most of these foods contain a wide array of nutrients, and many individuals consume them safely on a daily basis. The phytic acid does affect the total amount of minerals you absorb, but you still end up absorbing plenty. It only affects the meal that you consume them in, so eating a phytate-heavy lunch will have no influence on the amount of minerals you absorb from dinner. Avoiding these foods due to the fear that you aren’t absorbing the minerals can cause you to miss out on many nutrients. However, if you currently have mineral deficiencies (such as iron or zinc), you might want to limit your intake of phytic acid, or speak with a registered dietitian or your physician about any concerns.

CONCLUSION: Yes, phytic acid can bind to other minerals, but it doesn’t prevent you from absorbing all of the nutrients, and phytic acid itself might be beneficial.

Another question, do you feel no sympathy for the animals that were created to be reared for food and the way we kill them?

Do vegans need a supplement for B12? Some do, I get my B12 from fortified soy milk and nutritional yeast (which is also very high in other B vitamins and AND zinc) I also get more vitamin B12 from seaweed. 5 grams of nori laver seaweed provides 150% RDA B12.
Farmers supplement the animals with B12. Sure, B12 can no longer be found in plant based foods because of soil quality and over farming. Funny thing is, it isn't natural if you're getting B12 solely because animals are supplemented with B12

Ironic thing is, don't most omnivores take supplements? Vitamins, creatine, BCAAs, fish oil... protein powder is a supplement in my opinion.

No amount of linked studies can negate the 300,000 years of meat eating that humans have done… people can act like they’re doing revolutionary science all they want by trying to prove meat is unhealthy, but it’s bullshit.

I’ll say it again, there is nothing unhealthy about eating a balanced diet which includes meats. It’s not a conspiracy.

Dude... I brought this "it's natural" argument last post. You don't need meat, eggs and dairy to survive like our ancestors did. Why does it matter if our ancestors ate animals because it was necessary to survive. It just doesn't make any sense  Eating meat for 300,000 years is not a substantial reason to eat meat for us homo sapiens on planet earth. We humans can't process or metabolise cholesterol; it causes a whole range of diseases.

Different types of B12, different absorption rates, I understand that. I don't eat seaweed for B12, it's because I enjoy the taste.

Quote:
The most common form of vitamin B12 in dietary supplements is cyanocobalamin [1,3,23,24]. Other forms of vitamin B12 in supplements are adenosylcobalamin, methylcobalamin, and hydroxycobalamin [23]. No evidence indicates that absorption rates of vitamin B12 in supplements vary by form of the vitamin.

From the same source "absorption is only about 2% at doses of 500 mcg and 1.3% at doses of 1,000 mcg" that contends the assumption of 2.4 μg/day from 5 grams of seaweed

300,000 years isn't even close to how long meat has been eaten, that's just behavioral ancestry that has sort of arbitrarily been drawn in the sand as the point where some form of modern man existed. AKA, it too is bullshit. Either way, it's an absolute nonsensical way to justify meat consumption. It's like pointing out that we haven't had antibiotics for the last million years, so why start now?

India has the largest vegetarian population in the world, with hundreds of millions being vegetarian. They seem to be doing just fine.

From your study;

Quote:
Although deficiency of these vitamins can occur primarily as a result of insufficient dietary intake or malabsorption, various other factors such as gender, age and genetic, ethnic and sociocultural backgrounds are likely to influence their status [37]. Further, diets that are predominantly cereal-based and low in vegetables and fruits or animal-source food could contribute to the deficiency of these vitamins.

I.e., vegetable based diets aren't to be blamed.

If your argument for a vegan diet is that meat is unhealthy you’ve already lost. The only argument for a vegan diet is the ethical one, which I believe is a totally valid point of view. But no, meat is not bad for you.

People need to understand that nutritional science is one of the biggest guessing games on the planet. Lots and lots of correlation but no definitive causation. Was it the steaks John ate that gave him heart disease or the 5000 other habits he had? We’re just gonna say red meat because that’s what the study set out to prove.

If we weren’t supposed to eat meat, if it were bad for us, why are our bodies made to digest it primarily? Why, as a whole food, is it universally desired? Craved, even?

It's interesting that India has the largest livestock population in the world, with about 535 million animals.  A little over 300 million head of cattle, and the rest buffalo - used for both meat & milk.  I guess they really do believe in the sacred cow?  In Hinduism, the cow is considered a sacred animal and symbolizes wealth, strength, & motherly love.

A cow can feed a family of 4 for a year.  Do you feel sad for the many thousands of plants killed to sustain a vegetarian family?  I life is a life.  A death is a death.

Its not so much sympathy but respect to the animal for what it provides. That being said, I feel sympathy for animals especially in factory farms or illegally hunted to near extinction or for sport not nourishment.

Same with plants and trees. Food is one thing but clearcutting and destroying ecosystems for shopping malls or whatever industrialization is horrid.

If I could avoid sending any of pigs to USDA slaughterhouses and just butcher them on site I would do it every time. Some of the people working in those spots enjoy what they're doing in all the wrong ways and I really dislike the idea that they might be antagonizing my pigs before they kill them.

We've processed 4 on site since March and it's been a wild ride. I appreciate the final product so much more than when I was just mindlessly eating stuff that I was fully removed from. I'm also blown away by the millennia of selective breeding that have resulted in the ultimate meat animal.
