here one day, gone the next

here one day
gone the next
and who could
say they'd expect?
that a glance, a face, a laugh, a presence
the absence of which is so immense
would come to pass
and then go
like it weren't ever?
Such moments flew,
lasting though they do,
to render a past
of lighted features-
around is just there
and caught within air,
in a breath, a passing
but which
is always lasting

mirror shadow, a poem by twelve year old me,

the coexistence of you in me
the deceptions that you've made me see
your blind damn hypocrisy
...all in all, you are me

destiny is as destiny does
so, shit happens: what could i have done?
you swallowed me in, and i didn't hold up
you emerged, leaving me in the dust

you were only a facade hiding the truth
you couldn't accept when others saw through
the anguish, the tears, the suffering, the pain
it all wasn't worth, not in your name

where i went, to where i've come
what has passed, and what is done
i've done it alone, no thanks to you
look what i've turned into

i'm proud to say that i've become
all that you have made undone
you wrecked me down and i've restored
my goals accomplished that i've worked toward

i'll shed a tear, for you have passed
my dark shadow gone, breathe at last
it feels so good for me to see
you are my past, now i am me

The prison

Images that represent dreams
And desires of where I want to be
And who I claim to be
Fall always locked inside where
They come from
Attached yet severed
Incapable of now becoming
And manifesting--
In this prison
The intention is there
As well as volition
To put in place
The fears to face
Yet limited
Limited by other dreams
That have managed to manifest themselves
Leaving me empty though
I have acquired something
Something is still lacked
As a result
Incapable to dismiss for the consequence insists
I submit myself to aspects acquiesced
But in though I am shown
What may never be
And I cannot believe it has come to this
This prison inside me

Inside

Where have you gone
This I wonder
Or are you there at all?
Or forever gone?
Though something of you remains
Inside you and I
Days I have spent inside
Unable to hide

The time came for us
And then faded away
Dissipated, evaporated
My mind like the clay
Once molded by you
Has hardened
Into a form that is gray

I walk by the walls
And sometimes through
Nothing but air it feels
But something calls me back to that
That inescapable thing

Without you, you'll never know
Do you ever think of me?
Or have I gone too?
A memory of a memory
Inside I wander

Trapped

Trapped by myself
I'm by myself
Did I trap myself?
Or have myself I trapped?
I got myself here
And there is no letting myself out
And its this I seriously doubt
That I'll ever get out
But I have to try
Or else I'll die
Not physically
But mentally
I wish I could fly
If I could I would go far away
But to where?
Where would I stay?
I'd follow myself
Right into my grave

All the loose disjointed memories
Moments that could not be cherished
From tolerance of the intolerable
And without amends or hope at the sunset

All the blood, sweat, and tears
If you could only know me
Trying to make every drop count
With more than enough scars to show

As twilight settled down
I find myself a twisted amalgimation
Of half wrought pieces welded together
Having given my body, my light, my life

All the blood, sweat, and tears
The screams, the siege of imagination
Specters of mine, ghosts of yours
And everything I did to fight them off

Will you make it count?

With all given,
And all taken,
And all there is left
Where will you be when the sun sets?

If now I were to speak

This I would say
For a sight of gray
Or some other color
(in the light of a day)
Not here in this darkness
It is a crevice
With unknown depths
Floating amidst
If nothing else was
Here it would remain
A place maintained
In colorless stayed
As is this body
unbothered and under
without another way
Fixed on this gray
willed to be lain
To never be again
this dim without sleep
upon a fold in a sheet

16 hunter-gatherers arrayed around a fire.
"Are you real?" one asks, pointing to the king.
"As real as bread & butter" the object was heard to mutter.
"Butter presupposes a cow" another interjected.
"Which is more real, one of you or butter?"
"Go without both and the longing that persists wins."
The king got up and left.

this one i actually got published

It’s quiet as the sun rises
the morning after.
I’m sitting by the shore,
waiting, holding my breath
and an old branch.
The bark turns to dust in my hands.

I blow it out onto the water.
Little ripples
tear across the face of the lake
before going still.

You’re long gone, shoes covered
in miles of mud.
There’s nothing left but I don’t move.
I watch the lake go white, and I hold on.

Country Heir

When you’ve done with the Earth,
Be done with me too.
For we are together,
We one, for now two –
When you’re done with the Earth
Be you done with me too.

I belong to the rivers, the lakes
And the streams, as well as
The creatures that dwell by such means
I belong with the forest
And everything green
No other true equal have I ever seen

Foolish  men trade natural sanity
For the all-empty cup of vanity
To assert a position the sensible flee
That he can produce a superior tree ~
That he can out-do the original plan.
But criminal glory is all that is man’s

At the heights of his structures,
At the peaks of his works,
It is never more clear he is
Foibles and jerks ~
So let them make ruin all that they can
And leave me the forest, fit for a man

Hopium

"Tell me some lies, how you're doing alright,
I can't even sleep in my bed
Tell me tomorrow is sunny and bright,
I can't drive the scared from my head

Tell me the lies my heart hopes are true,
It's alright, my brain knows better than you
How slim our chances really are,
Though most in time seem to find their own star

I know it's not true, so it will be alright,
Just tell me some lies of happy tonight,
I'll do everything from dawn's first light,
If I can get off the rack of my senses and plight

I know that its silly, but it's not hard to do
And I never stand lying from any but you,
I'm sorry my wilderness haunts me tonight,
Please tell me some lies, how you're doing alright."

This one was inspired by shroomery people even though its about everyone

Fireflies

Not every Shiner knows that they shine,
No Temple but Faith,
Scrolls left all behind -
Not every Shiner knows that they shine.

But their eyes stretch out longer
and their head out behind
They wander the wastelands neither
sighted nor blind
the itch it still scratches
though love they may find
not every Shiner knows that they shine

Does God gift with birth
such long and tall things for the sound
of the chords it plays on our strings?
In the places between that exist for such beings
do we take forth our food -
or give back our sings?

An anthem of glory or
a long woeful whine -
not every Shiner knows that they shine
or sees the bright glow in
their tracks left behind ~

Dr. Karl Buchanan

Interesting poems, but what I found most striking was your signature where it displays the word 'psychotomimetic.' This is an obsolete, inaccurate term; and plenty of publications regarding psychedelics have stated this exact thing.

Well you didn't have to like the Poetry to dislike the medical terms and since I'm not on the psychological side, I'm on the purely medical side, I tend to use  purely medical terms, which no one medical has changed? They do imitate psychosis and a number of people have psychotic breakdowns or go paranoid from using the wrong amount or the wrong time or the wrong person? Those actual stats are something the psychedelics Publications don't like. I wouldn't like them either if I was building myself an industry on them.

Insofar as psychedelic philosophical arguments go, I consider a pile of Aztecs to have a group consensus, but it does not nescessarily constitute a wholesome or sufficient one. The Aztecs didn't build the wonderful places, they just moved into what a previous group had built.

They do not "mimic psychosis." I have personally seen psychosis in a clinical setting a number of times, and I'm not talking about myself lol. Psychosis is truly very different. Behaviors may be similar... Psychosis isn't a mere behavior. Psychedelics don't make you talk to multiple people who aren't there. On a tangential point... Freud noted there were sorts of jokes that bring laughter which still work even when a person knows how it works.

"Mycelium"

Mere sporophores

You and I are visible

Limbs of a great fungus

More in common

Than what is seen by

Our four naked eyes

Naked always

In body and mind

Forever seeking

A mind well shared

Healthy fruiting body

Deeper connection
