"When we two parted"

by Lord Byron

When we two parted
    In silence and tears,
Half broken-hearted
    To sever for years,
Pale grew thy cheek and cold,
    Colder thy kiss;
Truly that hour foretold
    Sorrow to this.

The dew of the morning
    Sunk chill on my browβ€”
It felt like the warning
    Of what I feel now.
Thy vows are all broken,
    And light is thy fame;
I hear thy name spoken,
    And share in its shame.

They name thee before me,
    A knell to mine ear;
A shudder comes o'er meβ€”
    Why wert thou so dear?
They know not I knew thee,
    Who knew thee too well:β€”
Long, long shall I rue thee,
    Too deeply to tell.

In secret we metβ€”
    In silence I grieve,
That thy heart could forget,
    Thy spirit deceive.
If I should meet thee
    After long years,
How should I greet thee?β€”
    With silence and tears.

The tree still grows OVER THE VOID
Enrooting itself all around
An endless labyrinth of WOE!

Welcome to life William Blake.  The late.  Life goes by very quickly I have learned.  Is amazing to me some of the worthless drama some people put to it.  My critque of the poem, lol.  Song lyrics and poems and stories all come from creativity of the mind and Blake is great at the imagination.

People with none or a sense of humor have made this world dull as fuck.

France

by Ambrose Bierce

Unhappy State! with horrors still to strive:
Thy Hugo dead, thy Boulanger alive;
A Prince who'd govern where he dares not dwell,
And who for power would his birthright sell
Who, anxious o'er his enemies to reign,
Grabs at the scepter and conceals the chain;
While pugnant factions mutually strive
By cutting throats to keep the land alive.
Perverse in passion, as in pride perverse
To all a mistress, to thyself a curse;
Sweetheart of Europe! every sun's embrace
Matures the charm and poison of thy grace.
Yet time to thee nor peace nor wisdom brings:
In blood of citizens and blood of kings
The stones of thy stability are set,
And the fair fabric trembles at a threat.

There’s a small part of my heart that’s always sad
Part of me that walks with a slow aching step
Forever longing
The beauty of that
To be forever longing
Too much joy makes the time pass too quickly
A bit of sadness slows things down so you can see it
Makes the sun set slower
The poison of joy
They cannot imagine a beauty in sadness
They stay away
They never get past the surface
When I fall down inside I find new parts
It’s like digging for soul’s gold
I never want to become a stranger to the downside
That which moves me when I cannot be moved
The great longing, the great sadness
That’s my inspiration
Filling the void
Filling the grave
Filling the time card

Oh Emily.  Shut in writing endless poems.  Because she got turned down by a man in the times when marriage, I don't think you could get divorced in those times, was everything?

The Hollywood garbage about her don't waste your time.  Is insulting to one's intelligence.

Love it.  Though I love the wilderness and the PCT which is a kind of isolation all its own.  Where even wildlife are, wow, what the fuck are you doing here.  That surprise made me laugh.  Take enough psychedelics, to each their own, one in my opinion can read any living thing.

So to the poem.  Putting my thoughts together in a way people can understand.  I get a lot of shit for my posts but only one really stuck with me.

You might not get what he is saying but he gets what he is saying.  Everything now is mean spirited M's and Z's that, watch the latest South Park, shaped by idiotic influencers.  AND MAKE SURE YOU CRUSH THAT LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE BUTTON!

But this thread is about poetry.  Don't want to get banned from another forum from safe zone shit mods.  Times used to be a lot different on the Shroomery.

To the poem.

Hope by Emily

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all.

I've heard it in the chillest land,
And on strangest sea;

Yet never in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

I like birds.  They are free.  Everyone wanting crumbs and taking crumbs from others.  USA!  Everyone come!  Welcome to Winter dumb fucks especially in Chicago.  Maybe learn what the birds do.

Born like this

by Charles Bukowski

Born like this, into this
As the chalk faces smile, as Mrs. Death laughs
As political landscapes dissolve
As the oily fish spit out their oily prey
We are born like this, into this
Into hospitals which are so expensive that it's cheaper to die
Into lawyers who charged so much, it's cheaper to plead guilty
Into a country where the jails are full and the madhouses closed
Into a place where the masses elevate fools into rich heroes
Born into this, walking and living through this
Dying because of this
Castrated, debauched, disinherited, because of this
The fingers reach toward an unresponsive God
The fingers reach for the bottle, the pill, the powder
We are born into this sorrowful deadliness
There will be open and unpunished murder in the streets
It will be guns and roving mobs, land will be useless
Food will become a diminishing return
Nuclear power will be taken over by the many
Explosions will continually shape the earth
Radiated men will eat the flesh of radiated men
The rotting bodies of men and animals stink in the dark wind
And there will be the most beautiful silence never heard
Born out of that, the sun hidden there
Awaiting the next chapter

A Hard Rain

by James A. Heffernan

(To A.C.)

It’s gonna be a hard rain
If ever we unleash
Proliferate, degenerate
Inside of this pastiche
The toil of ages vain
Miscalculation, madness
Abrupt ending, peace rending
An intense kind of sadness

By the toss of the tumbler
The shatter implore
Through the crest of the breast
Through the fall of the floor
Like unto a rumbler
At the height of the soar
The roil of the boil
I abhor! I abhor!

Of the fairy and faun
It’s the end of it all
Solemn greet the big heat
We’ve a planet too small
From the dying of the dawn
Of the age of the dead
The terminus of delight
Only dread, only dread!

Cybernetic alternative
Take our hands off the switch
Dam the Nile, in denial
Of the trial of the bitch
Though I lack, though I live
Though I dive through the door
By the time of the rime
I abhor! I abhor!

The awful battle beaker
Of love that’s gone by
The exotic erotic
Sun’s rays in the sky
The old pitiful speaker
Of the half-cocked and trite
I awoke, I evoke
The full force of the fight!

In the end, our redemption
In the fullness of fate
To sever the lever
That’s leveraged to hate
A short-circuit exemption
Is what God has in store
O revel not Devil!
I abhor! I abhor!

Untitled

by James Clerk Maxwell

There are powers and thoughts within us, that we know not till they rise
Through the stream of conscious action from where Self in secret lies.

But where will and sense are silent, by the thoughts that come and go
We may trace the rocks and eddies in the hidden depths below.

Most things from Emily.  l kind of get her prose and lifestyle at that time.

Her history is interesting.

Just a random poem from her.

I meant to have but modes needs,
such as content and heaven;
Within in my income I could lie-meaning in her time a bed

And life and I keep even.

The poem goes on  yet is where I am at in life.  That balancing act.

Archaic Torso of Apollo

Rainer Maria Rilke / 1875 – 1926 (translation Stephen Mitchell)

We cannot know his legendary head
with eyes like ripening fruit. And yet his torso
is still suffused with brilliance from inside,
like a lamp, in which his gaze, now turned to low,

gleams in all its power. Otherwise
the curved breast could not dazzle you so, nor could
a smile run through the placid hips and thighs
to that dark center where procreation flared.

Otherwise this stone would seem defaced
beneath the translucent cascade of the shoulders
and would not glisten like a wild beast's fur:

would not, from all the borders of itself,
burst like a star: for here there is no place
that does not see you. You must change your life.

To-day

by Ambrose Bierce

I saw a man who knelt in prayer,
And heard him say:
'I'll lay my inmost spirit bare
To-day.

'Lord, for to-morrow and its need
I do not pray;
Let me upon my neighbor feed
To-day.

'Let me my duty duly shirk
And run away
From any form or phase of work
To-day.

'From Thy commands exempted still
Let me obey
The promptings of my private will
To-day.

'Let me no word profane, no lie
Unthinking say
If anyone is standing by
To-day.

'My secret sins and vices grave
Let none betray;
The scoffer's jeers I do not crave
To-day.

'And if to-day my fortune all
Should ebb away,
Help me on other men's to fall
To-day.

'So, for to-morrow and its mite
I do not pray;
Just give me everything in sight
To-day.'

I cried: 'Amen!' He rose and ran
Like oil away.
I said: 'I've seen an honest man
To-day.'

by Padmasambhava from the cycle of the Tibetan Book of the Dead:

Now when the bardo of dying dawns upon me,
I will abandon all grasping, yearning, and attachment,
Enter undistracted into clear awareness of the teaching,
And eject my consciousness into the space of unborn Rigpa;
As I leave this compound body of flesh and blood
I will know it to be a transitory illusion.

Peace

by Ambrose Bierce

When lion and lamb have together lain down
Spectators cry out, all in chorus:
"The lamb doesn't shrink nor the lion frown--
    A miracle's working before us!"

But 'tis patent why Hot-head his wrath holds in,
    And Faint-heart her terror and loathing;
For the one's but an ass in a lion's skin,
The other a wolf in sheep's clothing.

CONSOLATION

by Ambrose Bierce

Little's the good to sit and grieve
Because the serpent tempted Eve.
Better to wipe your eyes and take
A club and go out and kill a snake.

But if you prefer, as I suspect,
To philosophize, why, then, reflect:
If the cunning rascal upon the limb
Hadn't tempted her she'd have tempted him.

Re: Fireflies

For every action there's an equal and opposite reaction, they say.

Shooting Stars by Billy Idol

Here I come again
It is the end of the night
And baby snuck out tonight
Oh, but to her strange vibes
To make her feel alright
For baby's feeling sick
Well, now she tried so hard
So hard to be hip
She's shooting stars
With her friends
She's shooting stars
'Til the end
I think it's kinda sick
She thinks she's really hip
Oh, it can be so lame
If you wanna play that game
Why don't you listen to me?
Don't go out tonight
Don't go out with nobody
Oh, your head's always to the ground, baby
On the scrounge at the Peppermint Lounge
Baby's feeling sick
Well, now she tried so hard
So hard to be hip
She's shooting stars
With her friends
She's shooting stars
'Til the end
Well, I think it's kinda sick
She thinks she's really hip
Well, you wanna play the fool
You wanna be so cruel
You wanna shoot that hero
Oh, don't you know that, baby
Revolution or maim
It is the end of the night
And baby snuck out tonight
To many sting marks on her arms
To do her any more harm
Baby's feeling sick
They tracked her down
And she's tryin' so hard
So hard to be hip
She's shooting stars
With her friends
Oh, she's shooting stars
'Til the end
She's shooting stars
With our friends
She's shooting stars
'Til the end
Come on, be her friend
You know she ain't that strong
You know she ain't that strong
