Again, it's not an election to a government position.  It's a party "election" wherein party insiders get to decide the results regardless of who the public might prefer.

You have a fundamental misunderstanding of what party primaries are.  Don't feel bad though.  Many Americans think they get to choose the candidates too.

The purpose of the primary is to get an idea of how the party would vote so a candidates can be chosen

Electoral college killed democracy long ago ey.

I guess it's unfortunate to see the further cementing of democracys grave.

It removed any direct democracy in the general. If you can win without the majority popular vote..

This move by the DNC is similar for the primaries, fuck democracy :shrug:

The end doesn't justify the means here.

Slip a notice in a month before the previous date and tell all the rest to fuck off..

The end doesn't justify those means.

That is wiping up the democratic process and shitting over everything.

If anything, the means are a con, but alas they're allowed. So in that sense yeah, the means could be justified.

Loop holes be loopholes I suppose :shrug:

For what it's worth, I agree that candidates shouldn't be chosen in a smoke filled room but that's the way it is here and that's the way it will continue to be unless we abolish political parties altogether.  Of course, powerful people will still find ways to collude regardless.

Cancelling a primary like this is new, but not surprising unfortunately.

May as well cancel all primaries at this rate unless there's a good argument not to after this?

Who's even trying to primary Biden anymore, Marianne? Who openly stated her campaign isn't meant to win, just promote her ideas (book)? (polling at maybe 9%) 
RFK went independent, no? He doesn't even show up on polls.

The optics are sort of bad but relax suddy buddy, they'll have a primary when it's not pointless.

And Lynnch, no primaries should ever be cancelled, it's nuts. If only one candidate is actually trying to run sure, but not by closing it off a month early to cut other candidates off.
