I hope that people will not say negative things about this man. You see, Swami is currently a patient of mine here at Hollows University. On at least three occasions beginning on March 4, 1982, we here at the Psychiatric and Paranormal Research Lab drugged and captured Swami. He is a major part of our catch and release program.

He was initially picked up in order to study certain anomalies we were interested in. I cannot comment on those aspects of the case in question. I can say, however that he was subjected to numerous CAT scans, MRI's, and a number of experimental procedures, the results of which are still being analyzed. His reported meglomania was, of course, of some interest to us. We quickly resolved that portion of our research when we discovered that he really IS that good.

Don't get me wrong, I DO find your posts humorous these days.
I rarely take you seriously, I learned that lesson quite a while ago.

There ya go.  :tongue2:

People do not enjoy being manipulated...
Then they should stop. I have no power over anyone unless they hand it to me on a proverbial silver platter. Therein lies the greatest lesson.

...and personally I don't think you are any more a master than the next joe.
That is the biggest joke of all. Neither do I.

I know you won't get as many replies as your would being a compassionate person,
The early Swami also got few responses.

that fact that you make claims on what is and isn't illusion, shows your disillusionment . the fact that you think you can help with regards to ideas for other people is an illusion.

I do think he'd make a better president than George W. Bush.

I would take that as a compliment except that a random homeless person would probably make a better president.

Swami, I never get angry at you... except that time you gave me a hit off that weed you used to soak up cologne in your car's cup holder. :puke:

To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.'  Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence.  Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains.  Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

I get angry when a hole shines through something I didn't want to think about. It is so easy to just take something for granted. Then, I'll suddenly need to do all this work and actually think about it. I make no bones about the fact that I occasionally get pissed when my opinion is challenged. But, of course, I could avoid it by not listening to other peoples opinions...life would be so easy...then again believing lies is easy to.

your method of discussion has its ups and downs, just like everyone else's. often it is positive, sometimes negative, its all about balance...

"ive noticed when i paint someone into a corner the end result is either silence or anger"

Silence doesnt always mean youve been painted into a corner. sometimes it just means that youve realized that neither you nor the person your arguing with are gaining anything from the discussion. The biggest mistake i make here is trying to hard to defend my oppinions. When someone is in attack mode, they will always find something to attack, no matter how simply or carefully your try to make your post. If you dont agree you dont agree, i try to avoid the playground mentality that makes me keep coming back to defend myself until it turns the thread into a one on one sparring match.

Yeah, Jacques Cousteau really did say it quite nicely.

Why crush other people's illusions if those illusions aren't harming anyone?  Can you show them anything that isn't an illusion?  When they don't need that illusion anymore, they'll give it the old heave-ho all on their own.

I get annoyed at you when you do your little displays of mock-arrogance and condecension.  For some reason those really burn me up, guess I'd better have that looked at.

This may shed a little light...

http://www.csicop.org/si/2004-05/new-age.html

It's an article written by an ex-new age leader and author. The jist of it is that she feels that the 'skeptical culture' has alot to offer the 'New Age culture' and she wishes more people from the New Age group could gain some of that insight. The problem, she insists, is the WAY in which the skeptical community presents this knowlege (using terms like 'quack', 'fraud', etc.) only angers and turns off those who need it most.

Why crush other people's illusions if those illusions aren't harming anyone?

Why would ANY truth-seeker desire to live in illusion? Answer please.

More direct answer, because illusions do hurt people - old people get defrauded by televangelists and con-artists like John Edward; people died in Jonestown, Waco, Rancho San Marguerita (Heaven's Gate), zealots crash planes into buildings, Rajneeshpuram, Manson Family...

Do you really need a laundry list? Rarely do these things START OUT as dangerous, but when you suspend free-thinking and inquiry (and call it "faith") and give your will to another, anything may happen and usually does.
