Re: Philosophy and Depression [Re: Mixomatosis]

Lemme tell you all, philosophy and shrooms make you do this.

GO UNIVERSE GO GO EXPLODE EXPAND SLOW DOWN RUSH TOGETHER CRUNCH UP THEN EXPLODE ALL OVER AGAIN. The feeling that all this was put together by a groovy fella with lots of time on his hands and a feeling for playthings is inescapable, warm, comfterbul, possibly untrue, but made of words which are wonderful things for putting ideas together, writing them down and sending them to mum. Mum is, of course, scared that I will die of poison shrooms, scared that I will go crazy nuts and spray submachinegun fire around all the college halls. Mum, trust me, I am incredibly happy with who I am, what I am made of, and what I can do with it. These mushrooms have let me finally write down whateverthehell comes to my mind, to juggle and not to judge, etc, etc. It?s the most beautiful feeling in the world, and it enables me to explore the outer reaches whilst remaining safely in my bedroom. It?s made me realise that a lot of things that I thought were lies were in fact true, that the universe is a wonderful place made for monkeys to have fun in, and that we can do whatever the hell we want until we fall over and die. We can jiggle, we can juggle, we can make ridiculously rude noises with horns, we can knock over buildings with ridiculously overpowered guitar setups, we can travel to insane and or mysterious places on the five green corners of the earth (not to mention the seven yellow corners, the mystical banana funmonkey and the amazing power of suggestion). We are rockin?, we are hoppin, and whenever I want I can stop and feel the last shower I took warming my bones, feel the water evaporating from my cleansed skin, consider the yellow lard that oozes in my torso (there being a little less each day on account of my bike rides), feel young and full of life, jump and shout and roll down hills, make lewd propositions to rude young ladies, and generally enjoy life a lot. My grammar may be silly, but I promise you if I ever spill the custard I will admire the pretty patterns it makes before wiping it up with an already slightly befouled piece of absorbent cloth. I like things, I like stuff, I like being creative, I like the feeling that I no longer have any limits that I can think of. I like the feeling that there is a lot that makes sense, there are a lot of happy people pulling vegtables out of the ground, listening to the laughter of their six children, eating dinner and sleaping next to their fat wife. I like it a hell of a lot.

Do you not have a point of view? And are you not attempting to spread that point of view here?

no, unfortunately not everyone is as self-righteous as you coffee-house liberals tend to be.

Yes I think there is a link between philosophy and depression.

Just like a drug... you can get hooked on thinking, internalizing, and analyzing things too often to the point where you enjoy it less. You argue to yourself-Is it right to enjoy this activity? Or you reduce it to its barest form, where it is of no joy to feel anymore. Then you have to ask yourself, did you slay a demon or create one?

I also think philosophy can be an internal light to lead one back to where they belong. It's all up to the individual mind on how they use or be used by the beast.
