Psilocybe serbica outdoor cultivation (2018) * 7

Back in 2018 I grew Psilocybe serbica and I just found back the pics I took (I have been on a sabbatical), thought it would be interesting to share it here. I received the print from a fellow shroomery member, he collected it in the highland forests of Kosovo.

I don't remember the exact details of the growth, but it went to agar, to grains, and finally to woodchips. These woodchips I placed outside and waited until autumn, when they fruited and continued to fruit until the first snow.

There was however something remarkable about this grow, and this is why I thought it may be interesting to share this. The fruiting was fairly abundant, but most of the fruiting bodies were practically sterile. I managed to collect only a few very light prints from the whole undertaking. You can see what I mean on several of the pics.

I have wondered what the issue may have been. Was I unfortunate to have grown a genetically weak strain? Or could it have been related to the fact that the Ps. serbica seems a highland species, and where I grew them it was a very low altitude (near the Belgian coastal region)?

Not sure why you ended up with mostly sterile fruits but I doubt that is has to do with the location. Repost this in the Official Woodlover Thread, they will appreciate it over there and maybe someone can has an idea about the sterility of your fruits.
