Wait for rainfall then check the next hot day. Luck is needed, as well.

Possibly its not the right season? Just keep searching, you'll figure it out. It takes a while.

Shroom season has gotten off to a late-start this year in florida.
The shrooms should be out and about throughout the whole state in a week or two i predict.
The whole state got a good amount of rain the past week, so, usually a week or-so after something like that the mushrooms will come out.
Rainy season just begun last week.

keep patient. if you dont, then you shouldnt be hunting, hunting takes lots of patience, jus like hunting deer. you have to stand in a tree all day drinking beers before you get to shoot as those suckers. (then you end up shooting your son, dad, grandpa, etc.)

I live in central FL too and i've been fustrated for the past few weeks. I totally agree with GGreatOne that the season has gotten off to a late start around here. Some more rainy days, and especially some more hot and Humid days will spring the first shroomies soon. Just be patient and persistent.

you might need a heavy rainfall for anything to pop up. spores are showing up early this year, atleast in central newyork. dont give up, i takes a great amount of waiting to find the kind you want. just hhave the kind in mind, as you hunt, and take in the habits of that particular shroom. like i get libertys almost every morning in my yard. its like an endless supply, but i have to get up early or they'll already be wilted. so i guess seasoning and timing are also very important. just keep your patients and know your research. research...research...and more research...

usually i have found that a field either produces or it dont.
usually when it produces they will be easy to find.
i have found fields that only had 1 or 2 in about 1 hour of looking.

I drove by a field yesterday and spotted a few Psilocybe cubensis capps popping up. Definately Cubes. I also spotted a few Panaeolus antillarum's growing in other fields (a dung loving non-active Panaeolus). So that's a good sign also. That was in Myakka City Florida - Manatee county, yesterday. So i'm sure they are out there (without even going out there). I drove by about a dozen more fields and saw zero mushrooms.
Usually May 15th is the norm for the very-begining of "shroom season", in florida. And July 4th is the peak of the 'season', in florida.
And for the second season (only applies to southern florida); the winter season peaks on December 25th, in southern florida.
