Lemon tek failed...help * 1

So I have lemon teked a few times and have seen what it can do...I am not crazy about it mainly because I like my trips to stretch a little longer but all in all it is a fast way to get them down ...well I could make a long story out of all but long story short it didn't work this time...I had 2gs and my bf had 1.5 and they didn't do very much at all...we have taken that amount of before a few different times with success, this time though barely anything...1st time I haven't been sick from them in forever lol ...I could see little visuals with my eyes closed but the colors were dull and not bright and vibrant like they normally are...it was disappointing...I am wondering what went wrong...I have read a few different things when it comes to potency but can't say which one it could be...I read alcohol can reduce potency but have also read that it doesn't affect it...we drank a lot that day but I wouldn't say we were drunk...running around and playing in the water all day, I didn't feel drunk at all.. I had read that some shrooms are potent than others which is understandable but if that was the case then wouldn't one of us had felt something more???  Instead of both of us being disappointed?? My sister ate one fresh before i dehydrated them and said she felt something off the one...I dried these with a dehydrator with no heat settings..could it have gone wrong there??? Also they say to store in a cool dry place...well I had them in a mason jar with the desiccant inside...I have no where cool to store the jars...my home is a fucking hot box in summer and igloo in the winter...even with heat/ac on...I had my jars hidden in a secret place where I feel like it may be even hotter...could that be the problem??? I have plenty more to try out in the future but I don't want to keep having the same outcome ..I even read it could come down to how they are harvested...when I harvest them I do the twist and pull technique but I also pinch off the bottoms of them where the sub is still on it..could that be anything as well?? Please, and thank you

Alcohol can dull the effect, improper storage conditions can affect potency, whether you twisted or pulled makes no difference. Could’ve been poorly prepared lemon tek. You need to find a proper tea recipe or just eat them. Lemon tek is amateur hour.

I am not big on it myself personally, the only thing I like about it is having it over and done fast and quick ...improper storage...I don't know what to do, it's summer and it's hot...I feel like no matter where I put them it's going to be on the warm side...would jars in the freezer or fridge work?

i guess it depends on how hot your place is getting and duration of storage. Airtight jar in coolest spot in the house is the way I’d go, but I’ve heard of people putting them in the freezer. This may lead to other problems with condensation and moisture if you’re not careful, and the desiccant could be an issue if you go this route.

Wait a week or two and take them again with a different preparation technique

It can get pretty warm...like when I inoculate them and let them colonize, I am already at like max temp...my room even with the ac and fan on still gets around 80 during the day...night in the 70s.. so I got 2 jars hidden in a wooden box basically...big enough to hold the 2 perfectly...I guess my thought is since my room is about 80 as is, that in this wooden box it has to be 90 maybe 100 the highest.. but I have heard before as well that they can tolerate SOME heat up to a certain degree..just gonna do it again a different way like you suggested and see what's up...if it doesn't work then I guess I am going to have to construct a new place of hiding lol

No, it wasn't heat. Was it a multispore grow? Multispore genetics vary wildly even in the same tub. You probably ingested some weaker mushrooms this time.

I stored cubes in mason jars in a very hot garage for YEARS, and they lost no potency.

Forrester you're the best!!! Lol ..feel alot better knowing that.... multispore grow??? Yes it is... and I believe all were from the 1st flush...I had read before that the flushes can vary as far as potency goes..but does that mean that each flush will vary as well??? I look at them like hot peppers...like you can have let's say 5 fresh jalapeños and Maybe 2 be firey hot and the other 3 aren't even spicy...

Yes, potency can vary widely even in the same flush for sure, because you're growing many, many different genetics from all those spores!

Could be a lot of different factors, personal tolerance, low potency in the shrooms, not waiting long enough with soaking the shrooms in Lemon Juice.

As far as tolerance, I'd say we should had been good. Haven't journeyed in a couple months prior to that night...we don't take meds either, in case that was a another factor you were wondering.. I think it was the potency personally..the timing was good..definitely soaked long enough, I actually even pussyfooted around (nervous) on taking it lol ...no longer than maybe 5 minutes max ...the 2 things that really came to my mind was either our alcohol consumption or the storage of them in the heat...Forrester cleared that concern up for me as far as the storage goes, and I agree with him about being multi spore and how the flushes run.. As far as the alcohol goes, I have done it before and it didn't lessen my trip any..if anything it just made me not want to drink before doing it because of nausea... only reason we did it like that this time is cuz we were camping...in fact when it came down to crunch time, my pre trip anxiety was so bad, I can tell you I definitely wasn't drunk at all lol ...all the anxiety for nothing lol

If you can take pills I would grind them and put them in capsule form. No mushroom taste & since you have ground all the mushrooms together the potency stays uniform throughout the batch. Once you find the right amount of capsules each dose should be relatively the same. Plus capsules are easy to store. Put in an airtight bottle with a desiccant packet & they will last for a long time.

Capsules don't last for a long time, powdered mushroom will become oxidized.

People argue this all the time, but I agree with the above.  For a few weeks or even a couple months maybe, but any longer and I really wouldn't powder them first.

I have definitely thought of trying the capsules before, I love the idea! I have seen some use larger sized caps and others not so big... I have done vitamin mushrooms that way before but not cubes. Definitely something to look into. I am not bad when it comes to certain capsules, like certain vitamins, or tylenols/asprins or things like that ...however I know these a little different and you have to take quite a bit to get to the level you want to get to.. is there a timing deadline? Like if you have to eat 12 for say, could I take them in increments without it being to overwhelming to swallow all back to back at one time? Like take 3 wait 5 minutes, take 3 again, wait another 5 and so on until they are gone? Or would doing that mess with the tolerance timing?.....

Derrayld, and Forrester, I just saw your replies as I went to post this.. thank you for the heads up, if I go this route I will more than likely have them prepped a few days in advanced, just for the trip, and not for longterm, thanks again!

Also why would you go capsule if you're looking to ingest them for the trip?
Just make a good tea or tea extraction and be done with it.

Unless you want a slower come up but the tea is very easy on the gut, not that I've ever had an issue.

I guess in hopes of being easier to get down? ... I used to eat them straight up back in the day. Never had a problem with the taste, texture, nausea, none of it...Idk what has happened but it started with the texture one day, then it became the nausea..We were making smoothies at one point which were really good the 1st few times and then we both were getting tired of the smoothies, started getting hard to get down...my bf was actually the 1st one who read about lemon teking and suggested it because of the thing about nausea..IMOE i dont think it helps with nasuea at all...but he really likes it... I liked the quickness of getting it over with but even the whooshing by of the shrooms in your mouth like that is pretty intense lol I also don't like how it makes the trip seem shorter...I want it last...been trying to think of ways to mix it with food some how...sometimes I think it's just the anxiety itself that can make the nausea more insense..taking it in pill form to me seems like a reasonable idea if you can't taste anything or feel the texture of it all..as far as nausea goes I can't say if it'll help with anything, I think shrooms just do that to me unfortunately and I just gotta either accept it or don't eat them...I know nothing about the tea.. I have read you soak them in water basically and drink it right?? Some people add ginger or whatever tea crap I guess to give it flavor??

I just make a basic rooibos tea but any good tea helps with some honey and ginger if needed

You soak in boiled water for 15 minutes and ingest the lot or separate the mush and strain it out heavily.

I have made capsules, I seal them up 16 caps in a Mylar bag with a desiccant pack and oxygen absorber, and store them in the fridge in the basement. They seem to hold their potency stored like this.

When I open them, they go in an airtight light blocking pill bottle with the o2 and moisture absorbers. I take 4 per week for 4 weeks while microdosing. I dose at a threshold level so I feel them when I take them. 400mg per cap.
