People always say how horrible the Soviet Union was, but look at Russian history. That country's always been fucked up.

I think we're both right.

the soviet government was not just composed of one person, and its actions cannot be said to be the reflection of one particular set of motives.

It was my understanding that East Germany (the DDR) was the Soviet puppet government.

My country was occupied by Soviet Union in 1940, and we got free only after the Union broke up in 1991. In the 51 year under soviet rule my country lost approximately 60,000 people. It's wrong to think of Soviet Union as Russia. It consisted of 15 different republics. But I'm totally with You - Russia was, is and will be fucked up state. I just hope it doesn't fuck with it's neighbour countries never again.
