We need to take over the whole fuckin universe. Destroy every alien race that does not roll with us. No mercy.

People always say how horrible the Soviet Union was, but look at Russian history. That country's always been fucked up.

Because the soviets were the only government that had the fucking balls to toss aside the petty interests of the proletarian masses and actually do something important with their nation's resources.

It was about power, not doing good.

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it. ~ Adrian Rogers

I think we're both right.

the soviet government was not just composed of one person, and its actions cannot be said to be the reflection of one particular set of motives.

It was my understanding that East Germany (the DDR) was the Soviet puppet government.

It was a lot better in the SU countries before everything fell.

My country was occupied by Soviet Union in 1940, and we got free only after the Union broke up in 1991. In the 51 year under soviet rule my country lost approximately 60,000 people. In their place thousands and thousands of people from Russia, Belorus and Ukraine were brought in to replace those sent to Siberia. From one of the richest countries in Europe in 1939 (according to GDP per capita) my country has become one of the poorest in 2003 (one of the fastest developing though). Not to mention those 50 years under the soviet rule were full of censorship, propaghanda, KGB and endless endeavours to destroy my culture and language. People could just disappear you know...

It's wrong to think of Soviet Union as Russia. It consisted of 15 different republics. But I'm totally with You - Russia was, is and will be fucked up state. I just hope it doesn't fuck with it's neighbour countries never again.
