characters that aren't quite kosher with quick reply

one thing I've noticed is that certain symbols (<, >, &, etc...) don't show up properly when people respond using quick reply...it'll show up as something like &ampt; (or some crap like that anyway) in stead of the actual symbol itself - and then the next person that replies will have two of those little character code thing-a-ma-schmucks, followed by three in the following response, and four in the one after that...and so on and so forth all the way down the line until it eventually starts scrolling the shit outta the forum

Thanks for pointing that out. I definitely think it needs to be fixed and I'll take a look to see if it's something that can be easily resolved. However, UBB 6.5 is coming out really soon and has its own Quick Reply functionality built in. I think we'll probably just end up waiting for that.

That's how the board works, there has to be a post you are replying to in order for the threaded mode to work.

Why? This would take much of the functionality away. I like to address people directly without having to write the name each time.

the re: is a good idea, like right now i don't have to say: matts the re is a good idea i just click your name and you can see i'm replying to you, and quick reply is a godsend for people that can't afford highspeed :stoned:

I agree most of the time in not replying to any one person so I just select first post... its lame.

what would be nice is to just have a general thread reply that it automatically defaults to...and then users can just respond to specifically people if they wanted to, or they could post a generic response that isn't directed towards anyone in particular

On topic, the RE feature is great and I see it rarely on msg boards. So much confusion without it because people don't remember to say who they are replying to.
