i am wondering if it would be dificult to make the default post replied to using quick reply the parent post of the thread instead of the last. i have seen a fair bit of confusion due to this, as nobody seems to use threaded browsing anymore and everybody seems to use quick reply. it seems more likely that a person is going to be replying to the thread itself than to the last post [though i could be wrong here]. though this might be worth considering.

A lot of time people use Quick Reply to reply to one of the posts in a thread, and this is where Quick Reply screws up the continuity of the sub-threads (or dialogs) in a thread.

I would rather have an option of shipping all users who can't use Quick Reply correctly off to some sort of Quick Reply Training Seminar! :wink:

Quick reply could be good if people were smart enough to use it correctly. As they are not.... quick reply deserves to die a quick death.

Good job! If you meant to reply to me, then you hit your mark! Even if you didn't, the nature of your reply content was general enough to work within most of the sub-contexts of this thread. Either way, it was an outstanding use of Quick reply both, in its conception, and it its application! :laugh:

Perhaps you could help others who are less skillful in the use Quick Reply. We are thinking of having some weekend seminars in the proper use Quick Reply.

Just use the quick reply link to the right of the subject line rather than merely writing in the box. Works just as quick and you'll still reply to the correct person.

I still think we should add in that javascript I wrote a while back that forces the quick reply poster to hit a Quick Reply link in which the reply is meant for. You don't loose anything you have typed if you have forgotten. An alert pops up telling you that you must select a post to reply to if you haven't already.

That sounds good! That is, if it's relatively cross-platform compliant javascript, and won't be too hard to implement across board upgrades. Ask 3D, and see what he says. :smile:

It might be a lot easier then sending everyone to Quick Reply Camp... :grin:
