I love this idea. Just fuck it. I dont wear a mask ever now, never. I have surely been exposed to covid cloud by now, ive been in a lot of crowded places and indoor restaurants where nobody was wearing a mask and no covid vax passports. Here people literally act like covid is gone, and the great big famous hospital here is never full or even close to full with covid patients. Barely any covid happening like this so, fuck it! No masks, no caution, no passports. Thats what everyone is going with now

Just wanted to post the following, directly from the Botswana government, and I quote: "The cases are detected among diplomatic travellers who tested SARS-COV-2 positive on routine pre travel testing.

The preliminary report revealed that all the four had been fully vaccinated for COVID-19."

Belgium just detected their first case of B 1.1.529.  End of next week it will be global.

We'll have to wait for the scientists to figure this out. There is lots of complexity with different vaccine types and schedules and waning immunities. Last I checked delta variant was still rocking it in the US. If this one does significantly bypass the current prexisting immunity in the states, then it might compete for dominance, and we might have to go back to relying on other measures for a while if vaccination becomes less effective. This is one of the problems that pop up when we don't help the 3rd world. WHO was right about that needing to be a better priority. I'd advise picking up some n95s while they're available. Maybe trees will get to see the inside of a hospital this time too, and we'll see how his posts change. It's always heartening to see that people are willing to suffer and die to support the pro-vaccination messaging by making an example of themselves.

That would probably not be the worst idea for the good old home grown covid, but this new shit is imported from Africa. If it breaks through vaccination for our local strains, then it'll probably break through our natural immunity too.

I want to upgrade my mask to the full darth vader suit at some point. It's the only real way to embrace the dark side of covid. I want to be able to force choke people too, but that's going to have to stay a dream. For now it's just slow suffocation for the infected, and I can't take any credit for it.

Once again, you're making a claim that I doubt you can support with science.  Please, show us the studies you're referencing that support your claim that wearing a mask weakens a person and keeps them behind in the mutations. 

You still haven't given the studies you used that support your earlier claim that "I got the vax.. whatever. But its super obvious to anyone who isnt inclined lie to themselves that natural immunity is in fact a stronger more comprehensive and longer lasting immunity than the temporary vax immunity."

You are just a misinformation machine, trees.

You guys arent good for any real information either, and look at GUESS work. He wants to wear a mask for the rest of his life and also wants to choke people to death for fun. This thread is BS and was never going to solve or help the pandemic so i just say things based on common sense and logic. You guys rely on fantasies and fairy tales

You guys have 2 very weak weapons here: boosters and masks. Neither will win your battle

Honestly, if you ignore the damage caused by infection, it's not a terrible idea for maintaining high titers. constant exposure will should stimulate antibody production and maintain immunity better than no exposure. I'm not sure there's evidence to support his whole claim, but parts of it make some sense. Last I saw, the best immunity came from vaccination after a natural infection. There's more to health than immunity though. I'm playing the long game so I can get the last dementia free laugh, and that means avoiding unnecessary exposure until we better data about the long term health effects after infection in vaccinated individuals. Vaccination probably reduces lots of long term negative consequences, but we don't know that yet, and it may be that things like significant loss of grey matter still occur in vaccinated people who get symptomatic infections. better not to fuck around IMO.

FORCE choke. that's way different than simple choking, you wookie. You know you'd enjoy it too. at least be honest with yourself. And sorry you're struggling with understanding the real info. it's comforting not to have to run around in a depressed panic. I just put my mask on when I know I can't avoid breathing the same air as dangerous idiots. it's easy and it doesn't hurt anything.

Considering 60% of Africa  is <25yo and 40% <15yo, there might be a risk that it is mutated towards attacking the young, in which case it of course is extra hard on older people.

Continental Africans in general are more diseases hardened and a lot younger, so that would favor evolution of a stronger strain.

The Beta variant was first detected or originated from S.A. too/  Those people trying to make a living off of tourism are fucked. 

I did hear something on DW that Omicron may have originated in an immunocompromised host, possibly with AIDs.

Which only matters in my mind because if true a sick person made a virus exponentially stronger...

to my virologists out there...is that how it normally works?

Another thing:  The WHO is acting super pissed that everyone is shutting down borders.  I understand the context they are operating within, but it just seems super counterintuitive and almost deceitful.  OBVIOUSLY the only thing that works is containment, but WHO's argument is basically let it get to your country first, then contain it.  I'm baffled.
