If you expose fresh metal you would get some leeching. Repeatedly exposing fresh metal might be a problem. that isn’t happening with little metal shards. The surface of stainless steel is passivated by exposure to environment. That’s why it is inert.

Well, this is not entirely accurate. 304 is one of the most commonly used stainless steels.

Steel for surgical applications is usually from the marine grade 316 series

And the 400 series is used for cutlery and whatnot

Moderna isn't trying to poison anyone, as they didn't put the metal in.
