When is it enough?

If you vaccinate 100% of the population, with a vaccine that is 90% effective, there will still be a lot of people at risk of dying from Covid.

Would you still support additional measures like masks and mandatory testing?

Hey man unless your going to throw your own events I don't think you have much of a choice.

And at least you did the most you can do, which is probably what I would do if people's lives were in my hands.

And me personally, probably if it's what everyone else is doing, it's almost like herd decision making, even if alot of people don't support it or even just don't pay attention to it, they do it because it's the most precaution you can take. I'm not a super cautious person, but it's not my life were talking about.

If 100% of people simultaneously received mRNA vaccines, covid hospitalizations would become a logistical non-issue.

There are 30 beds in our surgical/trauma ICU. Typically about 24 or 25 are occupied at any given time. The SICU hasnt had an empty bed for weeks. Not because more people are getting shot or because more surgeries are happening. Because they converted five other units into covid wards to accommodate the surge so now they just shove people into any bed they can find.

The other day I had to tell a guy with a shattered femur and pelvis that orthopedics couldn't give me a definitive answer about when his surgery would occur. He'd been waiting for three days. Normally they would have done the surgery within hours because people with long bone fractures are at major risk of pulmonary embolism. This guy was medically educated, very bright, and knew that every minute he stayed in that bed increased his risk of PE.

I can't successfully advocate for my patients with everyday injuries because COVID is eating up the time and resources of doctors and hospitals.

Over 99% of current covid infections are DELTA variant.

Delta variant is much more contagious and appears to lead to twice as many hospitalizations.

People with vaccins are much more likely to catch Delta.

They will to some degree add to the hospitalizations.

We're going to code black, just like is looming in texas and Florida.

You aren't vaccinated and already got covid. For you its not enough. you will need maybe two or three more covid exposures, its up to you whether its by vaccine or by delta variant.

If you double my numbers it still doesnt add up.

We have spend billions on the lockdowns that should have been spend on increasing Covid care capacity.

High risk populations should get vaccinated and skilled nurses like Morrowasted and other healthcare professionals should not be spending the majority of their time with Covid patients.

Why does it take years to train an ICU nurse? Because they have to be flexible, handle a lot of different situations.

Covid nurses would only have to be able to do a limited number of things. Unexpected situation occurs, get an expert to step in. Get the military involved for all I care, do something.

A billion euros was spend on setting up testing capacity that wasnt even used last year. The people in charge of spending that money just happened to be from the ministers network. 10 thousand people could be paid a €100K salary to become Covid nurses from that money.

I look at the people running this country and managing this crisis and I see criminal incompetence at best

Chances are decent I got infected with the Delta variant. When I got sick it already had over 75% prevalence here

How about let’s just get everyone vaccinated and then the other measures aren’t needed

I just don’t understand people who complain about lockdowns and we have the solution and they aren’t interested

Personally I loved the lockdown, but thats beside the point.

Even with a 100% vaccinated population, there will be a substantial number of people who will not be protected, because none of the vaccines is 100% effective.

Would you support additional measures if, even after 100% vaccination, 5% of the population was still at risk?

5% of the US population is still over 16 million people

Pfizer is a little over 95% effective at preventing deaths

So even with a 100% vaccinated population, about 5% will not be safe. And thats excluding people who cant take the vaccine for medical reasons (no idea about that percentage)

I used to see a lot more weird cases in the Emergency Dept. ED is the gatekeeper to all other units. The likelihood of any kind of overdose ending up in the SICU is very low

I was apprehensive at first but now its mainly because I dont like to be lied to and I hate to be told what to do

Especially by people who have been demonstrated time and time again to be unworthy of my trust

Im not against the vaccine. I adviced my parents and mother in law to get it. Everybody that wants it, should get it.

I just dont want it, and since I had Covid this past July, I also dont think I need it. Maybe Im wrong and stupid but I want to have that freedom

At 90% vaccination rate 14.5% are not protected against severe disease. Obviously getting everyone vaccinated is the best option.

I’m not sure where you’re going with this. This just seems like another example of people who don’t want to do something using a lack of perfection as their excuse.
