Dehydrator for bulk drying process
    #27345076 -

Heyhey All!!

So I’m looking for the best dehydrator for my money and I found someone on YouTube that was using this foldable dehydrator it’s temperature adjustable you can put it on a timer it’s made out of very high-quality materials and it has 11 ft.² of drying space but I’m worried about the size of the mushrooms not being able to utilize all of the shelves because of the size of most of them

This last time I improvised turn the closet into my own little dehydrator with a space heater two little fans and a big dehumidifier it’s been from  90° to 106° and 40 to 50 humidity and it took about 48 hours to dry 6 ounces making me want to build a boris style  drying cabinet but im not sure if it's worth the effort.
Here is the large ass link for the dehydrator in question! Think its worth the 300-400$ to dry bulk efficiently

Cheers & stay safe all-SO

I feel like I could fit more mushrooms in my cheap dehydro from presto with a 5 gallon bucket and it only cost me $35 plus a 5gallon bucket. For that price you could also get 10 dehydro's. Running 10 at a time would suck so I understand not wanting to do that.

https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/cabelas-12-tray-pro-series-dehydrator?ds_e=GOOGLE&ds_c=Shop%7CGeneric%7CAllProducts%7CHigh%7CSSCCatchAll&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI0NbBldaR8QIVMm1vBB1RXgnJEAQYASABEgI1dvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

I would go with something like this for half the price but I'm satisfied with my ghetto bucket for now

I just went with a affordable nesco and extra trays. Works fine.
If you need to have even more space buy 2 nescos for $100.

To my knowledge dehydrators are simple. Why pay a lot? But hey it's your money. Buy whatever you like.

A simple nesco dehydrator from wallmart willl handle over 8 ounces in under 24 hours. Without any extra trays. Jam-packed is fine

For a good dehydrator, you just need it to get to like 150 F.

metal trays are preferable to plastic too.

Whats the official concensus to dry shrooms? 140F for 24 hours?

The dehydrator in your link is incredibly expensive for what you get. If you live in van, sure maybe it's nice to fold it up and tuck it away afterward, but I don't think that's worth the extra $380 for most people and you could buy a cabinet dehydrator for that kind of money.

I was goingto go with a nesco brand dehydrator- i saw 11sq ft and said thisis what i need but in reality im only paying for the folding aspect and maybe the brand name - my clean room turned dehydrator turned out decent i got 6 zips dryed in about a day and a half with room for more shelves but i do need my clean room clean to do CLEAN WORK lol

One long piece of screen allows me to build out layers in an overlapping upward zig-zag shape to keep the different flushes of different varieties organized and together for bagging/labeling as I take them out of the dehydrator, as one flush is inserted you just fold some of the excess screen hanging out over it and add another layer of mushrooms.

Thanks for all your input everyone i ended up going w the 5g mod but i did dry the later flushes (less then 3oz) in the presto NO prob just put a jar on top to hold it together..
Heres a tub that started fruiting while still in the colonization room but still got a nice first flush! Drying now!!

A little messy with the plastic wrap but all the air is flowing through!

I used a 15/64 drill bit for the big holes and did as many as i can and the 3/16 to make more holes in between the bigger ones to make the whole bucket a grate like in funky monkeys post

Happy growing all
